they actually have a post on bpro's new unfiltered section where woolner posts about the best and worst OF arms, based on number of runners that scored from second on a single. He said that the dodgers last year were the 6th worst in baseball with ethier-lofton-drew noted as the OF. And thats not 6th worst team, that is 6th worst trio of OFs with some teams represented a couple times.

Now, unfortunately this rough analysis doesnt allow for any individual arm to be evaluated but it would stand to reason that if there were only 5 OF combos worse than Ethier-Lofton-Drew and it seems to me that pierre and gonzo are worse than their counterparts, it could be the worst in baseball.

Subsequently, the worst for last year crawford-baldelli-hollins.

If you have a subscription you can read about it at
http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=70

Oh, and the dbacks were rated 5th best with gonzo-davanon-green so maybe this metric isnt the best....

Josh himself opined that on August 27th regarding individual D stats.

Stu asked about what they were using to judge fielding, and Josh cited the difficulty in gauging this via only statistical analysis (tho he was aware of various attempts). He said that the most value that he saw in those were more in "team defense"... giving the example about how they had noticed that the Dbacks were giving up an inordinate number of doubles and triples.. and that they wanted to address that. (He didn't mention names, but everyone KNOWS the players that were being referred to).

I would think the content of my post would indicate my lack of faith in this metric. Wink

Gatos is an idiot. He's the only guy on radio who can make Gambo and Ash sound like Einstein and Fermi.

Having wasted a few minutes reading the comments at azcentral.com's article (not the board) about Gonzalez signing with the Doggers, the "love" for Gonzo hasn't begun to diminish in this town.

The best answer isn't to burn your Gonzo gear; it's to burn Gonzo every time he comes to town, turning singles into doubles, scoring from third on routine fly balls, and cheering like mad every time he hits a grounder to second...

And it's Gaydos (not Gatos), as in two loving amigos.

Luis Gonzalez today after signing his 1-year deal with LA: “This reminds me of the way the Diamondbacks built their team — veteran guys who want to win.

As opposed to younger guys who don't want to win? Rolling Eyes

Said Gonzo this afternoon: "This team was a perfect fit for me. They didn't lose anybody - they added guys. On paper, we look great."

So that wasn't J.D. Drew's face I saw on the side of my milk carton this morning? Confused

It did, however, look funny seeing the picture of Gonzo in a Dodger uniform in the paper this morning.

This guy kills me...he wouldn't be playing in LA if he was "at peace" with everything...
