2,500 Career hits by Dodgers outfielder Luis Gonzalez. Too bad the Diamondbacks didn't acknowledge it on the scoreboard.

No one as glad to see Gonzo gone as I was but lots of people came out tonight and this weekend to see him. I saw fans I havent seen all season. Lots of purple crap too.

I know its our park are team and Gonzo is no longer a part of it but still I think they should have put it on the screen.

i really don't see 2,500 hits as that big of a milestone. Just like i thought 500 doubles was overblown too.

we've groveled to Gonzo enough. Let LA throw him a party now.

Gonzo doesn't play for the D Backs any more. You don't celebrate a hit he gets off of you unless it's a true milestone, which 2,500 isn't.

Ordinarily, I'd agree that you shouldn't celebrate a minor milestone by an opposing player, but let's be realistic--Gonzo isn't your ordinary opposing player. The most indelible moment in DBacks history is his hit in the 2001 WS. I'm not suggesting that we go overboard, but a simple mention on the scoreboard wouldn't have hurt, and if people want to cheer for him, let them. Granted, he was a jerk when he left, and the team did the right thing in letting him go, but a simple acknowledgment of what is likely his final milestone and quite possibly his last big moment in front of an Arizona crowd wouldn't have been a bad idea.

Let's get this straight - `2,500 is only a milestone for people who don't have enough life in their legs to get to 3,000.

He's a DODGER. Screw any sort of fake Gonzo-loving scoreboard acknowledgement. Go do something and we'll take notice.

Gonzo got enough cheers that he tipped his cap. I was really surprised that they gave him a hit on that one so I wasn't ready for the cheers. I had to ask the guy next to me who said they gave him a hit on it.

I know it was posted here that Gonzo was on 2,499, but do you think whoever is in charge of special acknowledgments knew? I think 2,500 is a pretty big accomplishment, but it is not 3,000 or the sort of milestone that away teams have to acknowledge. I don't think it is petty for the Dbacks to fail to do so if they intentionally did not.

The CBS story makes mention of it. Also of them closing the roof after the storm had passed. Maybe the writer is a Padre fan.

Hey Matt, you mentioned a Gonzo heckler got escorted from his seat. Any more detail about that? Was the guy out of line, or were the ushers being jerks? Or did someone just complain and the ushers were forced to respond?

He's not a Diamondback anymore. 2,500 is not a big thing, anyway. However, maybe the Dodgers could have stood at attention, given him a standing ovation, or gave him a high five. I think it was up to the Dodgers to honor him. Rolling Eyes

I was sort of surprised that Gonzo didn't call for the ball on his cheap hit for #2,500. And was rooting for the next pitch to be a pop foul into the 3rd base seats.

The AZ feed on MLBTV showed Wickman holding the ball, and one of the 2 in the booth stated "There is the ball...". Then following a pitch in the dirt, they zoomed in on the umpire putting that ball into his pouch.

Guess I went with the bad information.

No argument on the scorer's decision. But a bad hop single? That's a cheap hit IMO.
