Don't worry, I couldn't give two flying hoots about LSU, I'm born and raised AZ, and ASU got the WIN~!

although, I did go to the LSU/Wildcats game..let's just say I should've bought tickets for only the first half

And with a walkoff SAC FLY, Chris ends this marathon and sends everyone out into the night happy - except for the fact it took a lot of time away from planned post-game parties.
* * * * *
One of the great mysteries of baseball....Both teams score six runs each in the first nine innings and then it takes 16 innings to settle the match Rolling Eyes

Thank You, Chris Very Happy

Yeah...me too

7 years from now there are going to be a new crop of fans on this board laughing at us because we can't let go of our beloved stars and fan boy crushes, and are not willing to let the organization to move on with the future.

that stings... because it's true. i'll be 32, still wearing my chris young jersey (which i alternate with my chris young ASG jersey), crying and posting when his option isn't picked up.

because i know... chris young will play until he is 68. and he will get better every single year.

okay, we're FU'ing estrada and byrnes tonight? can i get a recap of their nefarrious deeds? feel free to post it in the AM -- it's late.

Usual shit from Ponch, hit into a bases loaded dp in the 14th. Byrnes pooped out with the bases loaded in the 15th. Byrnes also struck out with 2 on in the 11th. Byrnes left 8 on base and allowed a triple that set up the Rox tieing it up in the 9th with a stupid diving play.

Estrada also quadrulped his walks for the year by walking twice (one intentional, of course)

Just got home from this monster marathon and certainly am glad the good guys won after sticking it out for 16.

First off, I was simply amazed that Melvin/Bell mismanaged the bullpen so badly that we burned through 6 pitchers in 9 innings. Very myopic piece of managing.

Interesting occurrence in the 6th inning....We were sitting 7 rows off the field just beyond 1st base when a screaming line drive (you could hear the ball hissing) nailed a 70-something gentleman in the hand directly in front of me, with the ball ricocheting about 20 feet away after hitting him. He was there with his family and toughed it out, but two innings later 2 of his fingers swelled up pretty grotesquely. Between innings I walked down and asked the security guy with the shaved head that stands on the field if he might be able to procure some kind of souvenir for this poor guy, and his response was "no." He wouldn't even bother talking to the Colorado bullpen or dugout. Great customer appreciation and concern demonstrated. Rolling Eyes In the middle of the 16th inning, I again talked to Mr. Bald Security Guy and said, "Hey, you fielded a foul ball last inning. It would have been a nice gesture to give it to this elderly gentleman that was injured by a line drive. Do you think you could give him the next one that you get?" Mr. then-put-out Bald Security Guy said he didn't think he'd get another foul ball. End of discussion. Again, what a great display of fan appreciation and concern for your loyal customers. I gave the man's family my card in case they need a witness for medical care costs.

/Off Soapbox

I must admit that I called the wild pitch by Valverde in the 9th just seconds before it happened....Sorry!!

Between the 11th and 12th innings the crowd cleared out enough that Jose Mesa was able to clearly hear me yell, "YOU SUCK, MESA!" as he strolled into the game, and when Carlos was complaining for a balk in the bottom of the 15th, I bellowed, "BALK! BALK!" and heard it reverberate across the field.

Couldn't believe we had two extra inning bases loaded chances and blew them both, but the whole evening was made right in the bottom of the 16th. So how much damage was done to our bullpen tonight, and who in the world was Bell planning on using to pitch in the 17th?

Why the heck are they blaming Callaspo on that steal attempt?

The ball was 8 feet to the right of 2b and sailing into the runner....HORRIBLE throw from Estrada, and they are questioning why Callaspo didn't come up with it?

I am terribly confused by our announcers. Wink

That was Estrada's bad. You called it correctly, shoe.

Hank with a 2 game winning streak. Hells yeah!!!

And it sure is nice to finally have some guys with speed, something we have been lacking for several years. As we saw tonight, it can change the outcome of the game.

I'm hoping the Panthers wait another week. As a Vikings fan, I'm relieved that Smith isn't going to play, but he's killing 2 of my fantasy teams.
