webb looked REAL good tonight, fluid, no hesitations in his delivery. i don't know, i could argue that he's still not rotating his torso at the right point, but that's getting down to nitpicking.
ladies and gentlemen: i present to you the CYA winner for 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 -- brandon MOTHERFUCKING webb.
(does this mean that my webb dream really is prophetic? because i don't want to turn into a talking dog, even if i still get to have sex with my human gf...)

What the fuck is with the bunting?
Kim sucks. You knock this clown out the game.
Yeah...thats pretty much what I said.
i have a solution for that. we unify on this board, use those of us with political connections, the wealthy among us can fund us, and we organize. then, we create a new law. prop 400. and the law will force all hometeam mlb managers in the state of arizona to punch themselves once, hard, square in the nuts, for each and every bunt. the punch must be delivered BEFORE the bunt sign is shown.
a man will punch himself in the sack once a game, just for the hell of it. he'll punch twice to make a point. he'll punch three times to show a real belief, maybe four times. but after that, fuck, his balls are going to hurt.
this could limit the bunting. i'd vote yes. bitter single mothers would vote yes -- just to see a man get hurt. some people have a fetish for ball torture, they'd vote yes.
this could succeed.
i'm so drunk.

Hank, you're dead to me.
Hudson's bunt in the first inning was the way to use a bunt. It was a 1-0 count so he didn't have to bunt the ball. He concealed it. The 3b was not in. It took a clean play to get Hudson at 1b. There was a good chance that there would not be an out on the play.
Hudson is a good bunter. Gonzo and Tracy are not great hitters. Webb is pitching so you probably don't need more tha 4-5 runs to win. This is a very good time to bunt.
The bunt sometimes is a good play ann there shouldn't be a knee jerk reaction to it. Earl bunted a fair amount. MGL recognizes the value of a bunt.
With Mesa v. Byrnes, in the Olde Days (50-60's and this was semi true in the majors as well as amatuer ball), a tactic was to throw the bat at the pitcher. oops it slipped.
The other thing that was done was to bunt along the first base line so the pitcher had to cover the bag. then you would run him over. I haven't seen either of these things done in recent years. Why?

It has not been my observation that Hudson is a good bunter at all this season. In fact, his bat control is quite poor in terms of his ability to bunt, hit grounders to the right side, or sac flies as the situation dictates. Hudson's really good at one thing and one thing only: hitting low balls with his uppercut swing.

Sure is fun to watch BWebb pitch! His stuff was absolutely nasty last night. It looks like he's back to form. If it wasn't for the arm problem and the Dbacks shitty month of June he would have locked up the CY already. After RJ's domination of the awarm from '99-'02 it just seems like the CY belongs in Arizona. Wouldn't it be sweet to see it back here from '06-'09? Bring it home BWebb!
