i can't say i blame you. he sees something on the field, and he just sits there, paralyzed by fear or indecision or something. and when he finally acts, it's 2 batters too late. he's just... hopeless.
i'm not one of the people who blame a manager for every loss, or believe that a manager's decisions impact a lot of games, but i don't see how this team can succeed with a guy who manages on a two minute delay.
oh, and the "god bless america" thing was terrible. i liked america until i heard that. now, not so much.

Hank, you're dead to me.
So I'm sitting there with McCray and GF, and Lyon is shitting his pants, and I turn to McCray and ask, why the fuck isn't Slaten up in the pen, getting ready to pitch to the lefty Johnson. Of course this doesn't happen, because once again Melvin is gripped by inertia and does not take the appropriate action in a timely manner. He freezes. Again. As always.
So once Lyon Shits the bed, THEN Slaten is brought in to face Schneider and induces the inning ending double play.
I GUESS IT'S JUST NOT APPROPRIATE TO BRING IN SLATEN IN SUCH A BIG SITUATION, BUT ONCE THE GAME IS GETTING OUT OF HAND, THEN IT IS OK TO BRING HIM IN.
FUCK THAT
Oh yeah...and of course where the fuck was Quentin all night? Is he hurt or something?
I became so totally discouraged tonight, not because I was upset at losing this game, but because the realization that Melvin could very well turn out to be a MAJOR impediment to this teams development and success due to his inability to recognize the proper action at the proper time. By the time Josh Byrnes can own up to this mistake, it will be mid 2008, and everyone will be wondering why the team is underperforming.
Melvin has to go.
(even if he got lucky by going with the counterintuitive move by sticking with Easley against the righty...even a blind squirrel finds a nut)
Exactly right on Melvin, Shoe. Even the look on Melvin's face reminds me of the old "deer in the headlights" description.
Maybe that should be a nickname for Biff: "Headlights Melvin".
