ESPN is reporting that a potential three-team deal involving Kevin Garnett, Amare Stoudemire and the No. 3 and 11 picks could happen on Wednesday or Thursday.
The Timberwolves would send Garnett to Phoenix, the Hawks would get Stoudemire and the Wolves would get the No. 3 and 11 pick from the Hawks. This deal would reunite Stoudemire with Joe Johnson, give the Wolves the draft picks they covet and the Suns would get one of the league's premiere power forwards. You have to wonder why the Suns would part with Amare, but despite the fact he didn't miss a game last season after microfracture surgery on his knee, it is still in the back of everyone's mind. There's also the thought that Garnett's defensive presence would be huge, giving the Suns a front line of KG, Shawn Marion and Raja Bell, which might be the best defensive front line in the league.

Its difficult to think of Amare playing for a team besides the Suns. I hope that the Suns are not trading for KG simply so another team in the west does not end up with him. The hole mantra of "not trading unless it improves the team" needs to be followed by Kerr. That said, having KG in orange would be awesome. Especially if they could find a way to hold on to Amare as well.
And does anyone know anything about the Swedish(?) player the suns were working out? |

I can't see the Amare trade working. Joe Johnson wanted out of Phoenix because he didn't want to be a 2nd option behind Amare which is what would happen in Atlanta and the Suns still hold Atlanta's unprotected 08 1st rounder so giving them Amare takes away any potential value that pick still has be it to the Suns or as a trade asset.
More importantly is the difference in salary and Amare's BYC status. With Amare's BYC status if he is traded before July 1st there is no possible way the Suns could get KG without giving up Marion at the same time. If the Suns traded him his outgoing salary would have a return value of 6.9 million (KG would make between 22-25.3 million). If the deal took place after July 1st the Suns would not only have to give up Amare but also Kurt Thomas just to match KG's salary which would leave them extremely thin up front with KG being the only player true big man on the roster and Marion/Diaw left to share time at the other 4/5 position. |

We will be trading KT and draft picks for Charlotte's #9 pick in the draft tomarrow according to many sources.
So ultimately, having Nash-Bell-Marion-#9 pick-Garnett won't be bad.

That deal isn't going to happen.
Also, Charlotte has the 8th pick, I'm sure you know that, probably just a typo.
We'll probably end up with Noah @ 8. I think he's overrated, just my opinion.

IMO taking Noah with the #8 would be a decent pick. By that time Mike Conley Jr, Corey Brewer, Al Horford, Brandan Wright & Yi Jianlian should all be off the board leaving the likes of Noah, Jeff Green, Acie Law and Julian Wright as the BPAs. The only one of them who I could see being taken over Noah would be Jeff Green.
Noah would be a good pick up as a defensive option against the bigs who like to play on the perimeter such as Dirk Nowitzki, Memo Okur, Lamar Odom, Kevin Garnett, etc... |

Well, Tucker and Strawberry seems like a good characters to fit in this system. Grant Hill's decision coming in next few days. Chris Mihm, who averaged like 10 ppg and 6 rpg, is playing for the Suns summer league. Solidify the bench, keep the same rotation, championship here coming.

Update on Hill:
Grant Hill has agreed in principle to a two-year deal from the Phoenix Suns.
Hill's deal, known as a bi-annual exception, will pay him $1.8 million this season and almost $2 million in 2008-09 at the player's option. The deal will not be considered official until July 11, the first day free agents are allowed to officially sign new contracts.
Hill also considered the Pistons, Heat, Mavs and Spurs but went with the Suns to hopefully win a championship. He'll have a vital role with the Suns and should battle Boris Diaw for the starting small forward job. "Obviously money wasn't the biggest factor here," agent Lon Babby said. "He had offers for a lot more money. Grant wants a chance to win a championship and he wanted to go to a place that would give him a chance to contribute. Phoenix was the perfect fit."

Great signing for us. Especially how we got him so cheap. I heard Toronto was offering him 3yr 15mil prior to them signing Kapono.
He's already an upgrade over James Jones because he can actually create his own shot. He probably won't even need to do that so often with us because Steve will just have him spot up for Js.

The worst free agent signing in NBA history became official today
Rashard Lewis was given a 6 year/126 million deal by Orlando. According to the newly established salary cap his deal will go as follows
2007-2008 $ 16,689,000
2008-2009 $ 18,441,345
2009-2010 $ 20,193,690
2010-2011 $ 21,946,035
2011-2012 $ 23,698,380
2012-2013 $ 25,450,725
If you were to combine the deals of the 2 best free agents on this summer's market (Chauncey Billups & Gerald Wallace) you would still be 9 million short of Lewis' contract. |

 |
|
The 35-year "Voice of the Suns" was selected as this year's electronic winner of the Curt Gowdy Media Award, which he will receive during the September enshrinement ceremonies in Springfield, Mass. The award, established in 1990, has largely gone to prominent national figures and some college legends but rarely an NBA play-by-play man like McCoy or his late friend, Chick Hearn.
McCoy has the longest running term with one NBA team. The only thing that could rob Suns' fans of listening to him is a championship.
"I still want to get a ring," McCoy said. "I haven't even thought about retiring."

Suns All-Star Shawn Marion is leaning toward not participating in this summer's USA Basketball games due to foot pain.
Jerry Colangelo, managing director for the USA men's senior national team, said Marion told him recently that he has been bothered by plantar fasciitis The condition often involves pain in the heel's underside due to inflammation.
