Ouch!
I just caught up on the game day thread. Where do I start?
Ok, first off, I would like to apologize to TAP. The post I made was not meant to offend you and in hind site if I had an issue regarding your post, I should have PMed you. I will do so in the future. I do appreciate everyone's effort to maintain this forum. Sorry dude.
I must admit that, at times, I do get frustrated with the volume of negative posts regarding current and former players ( i.e. so and so is a piece of s***, FU so and so, so and so sucks etc. etc. ) Especially someone that has given so much to the community ( off the field as well as on ) while he played here. Sure, Gonzo has his faults but many of us ( including me ) have not help to save lives/given as much to Phoenicians as he has.
That being said, ( and this is not directed at you TAP ) if I'm expected to agree with everything that has been/will be posted on this board then I feel that is not what this forum is all about. Maybe I'm wrong?
So much to cover.
OK, next issue. Many posters ( including some that posted negative remarks in the last game day thread ) have made both public and private positive messages regarding the mojo. I hardly feel that it can be considered "porn" and do not wish to offend anyone with the pics. If you don't wanna see them, don't click the link. There are more than a few posters on this board that I scroll through without reading their posts on a regular basis.
Ok, next issue. I hope that I'm not alone when I say that posts such as "You senseless, braindead, moron!" are over the line. I generally do not even respond to "trolls" ( as some of us do ) let alone use that type of language towards other members of this board or our players/coaches etc.
I have limited exposure to "chat rooms" and "forums." Basically, it's the migration that I made from brief stays at the MLB and ESPN boards to this one. It seems that many times "extreme" language is used to voice opinions/ideas? ( ie HATE, which for me, is extremely offensive ) I don't "hate" any of our players, coaches, support staff or posters.
First of all Foulpole. I used this line for purpose.
I have been an admin on a MUD called Merentha. You can go to merentha.com and check the credits. I spent several years there as a player first and then an admin. I spent months coding areas so that other players could continue to enjoy the game, after I retired from playing. Under the credits for areas coded my creator name is Boreas. That was my name there on the admin side. I've experienced it firsthand when someone decides they're entitled to put a rip in against those that are there putting in all the effort to keep the site going for others to enjoy.
Unless you've spent countless hours creating and debugging code, you've got absolutely no idea how thankless those hours can seem. Especially when your reward becomes having someone taking verbal swipes at you. Do I take it personal when I witness it happening to others? You bet I do, because I know exactly how it feels. It angers me when I read such an insensitive remark, from someone lacking the first synapse required to comprehend maintaining the amount of code required for such a site, and makes an insulting statement that can only be described as truly moronic.
People get banned from sites for insulting the admins. It's about the dumbest thing a person can do. Senseless, braindead, moron isn't that far off.
You referred to my post with my initial line to you. You then categorize myself as a "troll". Is that your defense for doing something stupid? Calling me a troll for stepping up and defending the admin that you chose to insult? You insulted them without recognizing they perform a tiring and thankless task in their spare time which afforded you the opportunity to insult them. And you probably didn't realize it until reading through my post. I had to give you a cold, hard slap in the face to wake you up to the reality of the situation. And then enlighten you to the duties they perform behind the scenes here.
The admins are your best friends here. Whether you like them or not. Whether you care for their opinions or not. Whether you even care to read what they have to say here or not. They are your best friends here. None of us post here without their existence and what they do here for all of us.
Now, if you want to continue calling me a troll for standing up and talking about something I know from personal experience, feel free to do so.
To all the admins here. I know you don't hear this often enough.

Whats going on guys??
It seems like this place is becoming as bad as the "official" dbacks board sometimes, said it the other week when there was a debate between shoe and .... (I forget who it was, or why)!! Its not needed, the moderation here is shithot and all the personal insults and arguing is totally un-necessary.
This is where the knowledgeable dbacks fans hang out for the most part, lets leave the kindergarten insults and the keyboard warrior stuff on the other boards. Any new reader who's first post is the gameday thread from the other night wouldnt form a very good first opinion of the place.
People disagree, thats ok...things get a little heated sometimes, again thats ok...but we're all here for the same reason aint we??
(just a 50pence worth from someone who's mainly a reader, not a poster)
Go Dbacks

1) foulpole was out of line with his original post. Being an admin of the board does not prevent TAP from having an opinion and expressing it as forcibly as he wants. Personally, I separate those two halves - Admin and SnakePit - but others admins and mods don't. In such cases, it's up to readers to separate the two: I trust foulpole will do so going forward.
2) Gorfo57 was way out of line. Referring to another poster as a "senseless, braindead, moron" is not acceptable behavior. While I appreciate the sentiments, the admins and mods here are capable of defending themselves as necessary - and without insulting other posters. Greater restraint in future responses is needed.
3) Links in Gameday Threads. Don't look at them, but don't mind them. Foulpole switched to those from posting actual pictures, when asked, and I'm happy with that as a compromise. Anyone so offended by cheesecake as to leave the board is likely not going to last long here anyway.
As the board continues to grow, the spectrum of opinions it contains will likely continue to grow too: an increase in the potential for conflict is inevitable. It's up to everyone to respect the other members, and I will not hesitate to take appropriate action against those who do not obey the golden rule: treat others as you would want to be treated.

No better time than the present to introduce Admin on the Ground as the portion of my tormented psyche that will handle administrative duties for the board.
While all on this board that have met me know that TAP is always free game for conversation, debate, disagreement, scorn with reasonable civility, and even occasional agreement, this should put those that haven't met me at ease with treating TAP as just another guy at the bar.
