Yeah, I went to a Giants game the last homestand, got some scalper bleacher tix - 2nd row!! - and really lit into Barry. Course I was lit as well, and felt like crap the next day. Might've had something to do with the garlic fries, too.

well, with couns not in there, and byrnes in the cleanup spot, we thought we might give young a shot"

Well, it appears that counsell is still the starting SS, at least in Bomels mind, and that there wasnt even a thought of taking gonzo out... Young in LO was a last resort in Bomels mind as well...

Steve Gilbert last night wrote:
Young was in the leadoff spot for the first time on Wednesday, a spot he could find himself in more often in future years.

"Why not?" D-Backs manager Bob Melvin said. "He had a .360-plus on-base percentage [with Triple-A Tucson]. [He] steals bases. With Craig Counsell not in there today and Byrnes hitting in the middle of the order right now, I think it's a good option."

That's a bit of a conflicting message in Steve Gilbert's article. It sounds as if Steve Gilbert is hoping and expecting that Young will be primarily batting leadoff over the next several years, but in Melvin's mind batting Young 1st is more of an afterthought since Counsell was out for a night and Byrnes was filling in at cleanup.

I wish Counsell and Clark could go back to the DL. Fuck, we have another year of TC.

Well, TC's NTC is over after this season. Not that it really matters.

He's a great guy and would make a great coach/mentor.
