Schmidt and Maddux both went 8 scoreless innings. Of course I'm rooting for the Gnats, but walking Bonds in the top of the 10th, 1 out, nobody on. WTF? Sure he can knock one out, but he's only batting .245 and doesn't deserve that respect.

I don't get it?

I own BOTH maddux and schmidt in my roto league. Why couldn't the giants score an unearned run off maddux tonight? I hate the giants

fn giants.

right now az is two games back in the loss column to the Dodgers. az plays 7 games next week, the bums play 6, which will shave off the 1/2 game in the standings--hopefully in az's favor.

this week's trip to CO and SD will be really hard...

In tonight's game the Gnats spot the Dodgers 10 through the 1st two innings.

The Gnats score 4 in the 4th then 2 in the 5th to cut the lead to 4 and Maddux looks shook.

"It ain't over till it's over."

Well it's over now and the Dodgers hang on for the win.

Bummer.

Interesting note to this game from Saturday 8/19...Linden replaced Barry Bonds in left field in the top of the fourth because Bonds complained of tightness in his back and took himself out of the game. Bonds grounded out in his only at-bat against Maddux.

Later Saturday night, er Sunday morning, at 2:00 AM, Bonds was spotted onstage at San Francisco's Crash club on Mason street, where Motley Crue's Tommy Lee was deejaying. Barry Bonds was bent over with no apparent back tightness as he pretended to spin records with Tommy Lee. At $20M per year he's too sore to play baseball but not too sore to stay out all night Saturday and Sunday morning (with no back problems) while his team, who could use his bat in the lineup, has a Sunday day game. Barry didn't start on Sunday of course because "his back was too sore." The Giants lost to the Dodgers both Saturday and Sunday.

Well, Barry does need to explore an alternative career path after this season. He would just get bored hanging around for his kid's football practices, etc.
