Second baseman Orlando Hudson is tied for sixth in the majors with a .500 batting average when putting the first pitch of an at-bat into play, according to Stats LLC.

Chris Duncan of St. Louis ranks first with a .609 average, followed by San Diego's Josh Barfield (.586), the Yankees' Craig Wilson (.556), Florida's Miguel Olivo (.545), Atlanta's Matt Diaz (.533), followed by a tie between Hudson, Minnesota's Joe Mauer and Pittsburgh's Joe Randa.
