gonzo holds pretty much all meaningful offensive records in az's short history. he had a run of several years where he was one of the best hitters in the game. he deserves plenty of respect for what he's done for this franchise.
i completely agree with jbyrnes that the dbacks had to let him go this year, but that doesn't negate what he's done for the dbacks and the community in the valley. for his achievements in purple, he deserves tons of respect.

Well, if Gonzo comes back and "Shawn Green's" our asses all year and steps it up just to get back at us (while overall still declining), I don't think many D-Backs fans are going to feel as warm and fuzzy about him.

What are you getting at here?
Just that it should be interesting to watch and see what happens, and see if Gonzo is still the "well-loved fan favorite" if he gets a couple of his doubles and drives in a couple runs, and shows us up during every Bums/D-back series...
I'm sure he'll get a standing O that first AB, but it will be interesting to see how he is percieved at the end of the season by the fans...
