Just trying to discern the logic here...
What would be gained by sending Tracy down to AAA?
It's not as if we had some "super-coach" there to work with him.
Yes, indeed, it would be nice if he had another series of sessions with Matt Williams to work on his fielding - and especially on throwing to first base. It wouldn't hurt if Mike Aldrete took him aside, and told him to just hit to put the ball in play. (I don't know that Tracy is, in fact, trying to hit for power; or that Aldrete or Melvin hasn't said something already...)
Who would you have play 3B in Tracy's absence? Easely? Callaspo?
But I don't know whether or not he's out of options. (I suspect he is...) I don't see how sending him down brings about his improvement.

Interesting question considering this is only his 3rd year of major league ball. I want to say no, because he's already signed a new deal avoiding arbitration, but these rules are so wacky who knows.
He shouldn't, though, be sent down. He needs to stop swinging at everything down and in and focus on his zone. I don't think anything can be done with his fielding except working on his footwork...that's what Matt Williams always says. |

Actually, each player has three option years, and he can be sent up and down as many times as the club chooses within those three seasons.
When you hear that a player is "out of options," that means he's been on the 40-man roster during three different seasons, beginning with his fourth as a pro, and to be sent down again he'll have to clear waivers |

| I'm not saying that he would stay there for three weeks, but more like a couple days. It would be more of a reality check, but it is so frustrating seeing someone struggle that poorly, I can't but help feel bad for him. |
