An Emmy award was stolen from the Scottsdale home of former Arizona Diamondbacks manager Bob Brenly, police said Friday. The uniquely engraved trophy, which Brenly earned for his part of a Chicago Cubs play-by-play tandem last season, was reported stolen after a painter noticed a broken window at the former Big Leaguer's home near Cactus Road and the Loop 101.
Jewelry was also stolen from the home during the heist sometime Thursday afternoon or early Friday morning, according to Scottsdale police.Brenly, who led the Diamondbacks to their World Series victory in 2001, was given the award for his work with fellow commentator Len Kasper for their Cubs' WGN/Comcast SportsNet broadcasts.
The award was presented in November by the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Brenly and his family were not home at the time the burglary occurred.
Police do not have any suspects. Anyone with information on the stolen Emmy is urged to call Scottsdale police at (480) 312-5000.
If Brenly thinks he was robbed of an Emmy, how do you think Stephen Colbert must feel...
