KTAR website lists 1 PM Phoenix time. You can listen to it online there if you're not close to a radio broadcast signal.

Wouldn't it be somehow fitting if this thread got to (and ended at) 51 pages? Cool

Brilliant, Ryan! My guess is it will reach its logical conclusion at that point after the press conference feedback from the board posters. We'll retire it at that point in honor of RJ.

Josh begins conference talking about the origins of the talks... which actually began out of a condolence call from Brian Cashman over the loss of Randy's older brother.

Randy then said that he could have gone to several other west coast teams, but he chose to come to the Diamondbacks.

This assumes, of course, that RJ will once more wear #51.

Granted, it's probably a solid bet... but ya never know... Wink

RJ said having played for the Yankees (big market) gave him something to compare with his AZ experience.

Randy talking about keeping on his schedule for rehab... making friends with some of the beat writers in NY, so no big deal about the tabloids making it out like he wasn't suited for the Big Apple. Gave props to Cashman and Steinbrenner... that he enjoyed time in NY.

I am not throwing from the mound yet. I anticipate starting throwing sometime next week. I will be slightly behind my teammates....I anticipate being with my team at ST....Will I be ready for opening day? I don't know yet....I can't say when I'll be ready to pitch competitively, but soon I hope.

KTAR will be interviewing RJ after the press conference, however... probably within a half hour.

Randy says his 5.00 ERA was due to his bad back (couldn't bend over and pitch) and he will again have to prove himself this year, just as he did when he first signed with AZ in '99 when the D-Backs had just lost almost 100 games and the press was saying Randy has lost his desire to win. He said he proved them wrong then and will prove them wrong now.

Randy says he didn't ask for an extension. AZ was gracious enough to offer the extension to ensure his 300th win in AZ.

"I've never had a problem communicating. I had good conversations when I was here before with Brandon Webb when he was younger and I'm sure we'll do the same now.

I'll give kids their space. If they want my help, they'll ask for it. I can also learn a lot from talking to these guys."

How can you guys stand to listen to these annoying idiots on KTAR? Not only are they opinionated and full of shit, but they're also stupid. Mad

Sorry for the rant.

I want to know how the home of the Diamondbacks and the new "leader" in sports doesn't carry the entire press conference.

Randy is a class act. When asked about the nasty NYY fans, he said when he didn't pitch well, he expected the fans to voice their opinions. He also said he had no regrets for the two seasons with the Yankees because they are one of the greatest francises in history of baseball.

Also, he plans to play catch next week and get on the mound soon. He also said he felt stronger this time compared to his last back surgery ten years ago.

Gambo is the most annoying idiot and wet blanket, did you hear all the negative comments he said immediately after?

Fortunately I'd switched over to 910 to hear the remainder of the press conference. Hmmmm, hear the much anticipated RJ press conference or listen instead to Gambo spouting his ignorant negativity.... tough call. Wink

Unit interview coming up soon on KTAR. I can't wait to see how Gambo handles this. Rolling Eyes
