Jose Guillen-OF- Nationals Dec. 2 - 5:53 pm et

The Mariners and outfielder Jose Guillen have agreed to terms on a one-year, $5 million contract, sources told ESPNdeportes.com.

There's $3 million in incentives and a $9 million option for 2008. Guillen is a risk while coming back from Tommy John surgery, but this is still a pretty good signing for the Mariners. It's certainly better than bringing in Luis Gonzalez.

I did a double take on that part of the article. The Evil Empire with fiscal restraint?

What has this world come to?
