The Diamondbacks also got three expansion draft picks and two farm clubs from the Brewers. |

Casey, welcome to this board. It's nice having a fellow Brewer fan here--particularly one who is so knowledgable and articulate. |

An additional note on Krynzel from the Arizona Republic today is that he is out of options; so if he doesn't make the major league team after spring training, he will be exposed to options. Not knowing much about him and just from what I've read, I would be very surprised if he made the team after spring training. He might not be a Diamondback very long. |

OOPS....
Per Nick's article today, Krynzel is out of options, and either has to make the roster or will be released.
In that case.....his inclusion in this deal does not seem to make sense to me, but then again, I don't have all the info and don't know what Josh's next move is.
Maybe a trade of Byrnes IS in the works, and they want a defensive specialist with speed like Krynzel off the bench for late inning replacements?? |

I enjoy your posts, levski, and like this board. So I guess I'll just put up with some abuse. I obviously overlooked shoewizard's earlier post. |

LOL
Please don't take it personally. I really was only joking. It's great to have so many posters here, all contributing their analysis, opinions and links. And when the threads get long and busy, it's very easy to overlook stuff.
Your contribution here is very much appreciated.

I wonder if the prospect of getting well over 600 innings out of our starting 1-3 makes the possibility of giving cruz a good second look more probable.
Outside of IP for a SP his numbers look pretty damn good. |

with aquino gone, I think the Dbacks need Cruz in the pen more than they need him in the rotation. I can see two of the foursome (Dana, Edgar, Enrique, Dustin (DEED)) winning the last two spots in the rotation... unless Byrnes acquires another starter in the meantime... |

I don't think they really cared that Kreslasjtrr is out of options. He won't make the big club (if he makes it over Hairston I'm going apeshit on the FO) so he'll just get waived. The Brews probably just wanted to include some dead weight off of their 40 man roster so that they didn't have to be the ones to make that talk to the kid. |

A few thoughts on Krynzel. I have trouble believing that the Brewers really cared whether they had to tell Krynzel he was being waived. It's just business. Also, you know JB looked at this trade from every side and I doubt he would include a throw away. Although his hitting is painful Krynzel is a good defensive player supposedly with range, athleticism and arm strength. Of course I would like to believe that there is an EB deal in the works but I doubt we could be so lucky. Nevertheless I believe that one way or another Krynzel will likely figure in a trade either as the one traded or the one staying so someone else can be traded more easily. Unfortunately, unless JB is willing to cross BoMel, it could be Hairston that will be traded. |

I cant help but wonder about 3 recent transactions done by D-backs F.O
1. Hiring of Scouting Director, Tom Allison
2. Play by play commentator, Daron Sutton
3. Now this Davis for Estrada Trade.
All these 3 are between Milwaukee brewers and Diamondbacks.
Do they all go to the same Bar for drinks?
Is it Coencidence?
May be. |
It might be that Eveland is one of Allison's "guys" (just like Mock and Chico were probably Rizzo's "guys").

I disagree that JB wouldn't have Krynzel thrown in for throwing-in's sake. Why not? The core of the deal was obviously Davis and Eveland. I would be shocked (and very upset) if Krynzel himself has any negative effect on Hairston being on next season's roster.

According to Arizona Republic,

Quote: |
"Doug is definitely interested in being in Arizona," agent Steve Canter said. "He definitely would like to be with the D-Backs for a long time, and I think they're very interested, too."
General Manager Josh Byrnes says the Diamondbacks would consider a multiyear deal but cautioned the club was in no hurry to overpay.

Davis, a Valley resident whom the Diamondbacks acquired Saturday in a six-player trade with Milwaukee, could command a sizeable multiyear contract. He compares favorably to free-agent pitchers currently on the market who are seeking deals worth $8 million per season and upward.
|
I guess it will be 3/24 to keep him here.
The Club might not be in a hurry now, but once the offseason dust settles, they better extend, else he becomes free agent.

Nah... Some of 'em will become free agents and move to a board in Seattle...
But seriously, welcome aboard to all the new members of the DBBP!

I would definitely consider signing Doug Davis and Livan Hernandez to an extension. Three 200 inning guys don't come around often.
