Mets sign Easley, tighten up bench
Ken Rosenthal / FOXSports.com
Posted: 2 hours ago
The Mets, moving to reinforce their bench, have agreed to terms with free agent infielder Damion Easley on a one-year $850,000 contract, FOXSports.com has learned.
Easley, 37, is expected to fill the role played last season by Chris Woodward.
He spent last season with the Diamondbacks, batting .233 in 90 games.
Easley, a 15-year veteran, can play every position but pitcher and catcher. With the Diamondbacks he was mainly used at short stop and third base.
Ken Rosenthal is FOXSports.com's senior baseball writer. |
50% of Easley's offensive value occured in two days in Atlanta

The Mets are our garbage cans. First El Duque, then Green, then Easley.
(if only they could have taken Ortiz...) |

Talk about an anomaly. That's pretty amazing.
I'm willing to bet a large chunk of fans only remember Damion from those two days in Atlanta and will now whine about how "there goes another of our veteran producers."

"clearly, damion easley didn't want his incredible offensive skills to benefit someone as evil as ken kendrick..."
