I think he is making his feelings known pretty clearly in these posts. |
I've been around this & the MLB board long enough to form the opinion that you, shoewizard, are not a total fucking idiot. So imagine my surprise in reading something so stupid in a box next to your name. "Ew, I'd never go to Australia." was about as clear as I could make it, but let me reiterate: I wouldn't want to visit Australia. Ever. How that points to a supposed bigotry toward Asian people (any people at all?) is completely beyond me. I don't even know what else to say. I can't believe you so badly misinterpreted one sentence.

My bad.
Please accept my apology.
I am totally capable of being a fucking idiot sometimes, and this appears to be one of them.
Again,....Sorry. |

How do you think the typical American tourist group is perceived overseas?
Where do you think the phrase "ugly american" came from? |
I totally agree, in fact I had one with while I was in Australia "we'll just blow em up". I was just stating that there are people who would stay away from touristy spots of all kinds of different ethnicities and still not be racists. For instance a lot of the "born & raised" in Australia stay away from downtown for that very reason and the "ugly american" is more a part of that than the Asian or Middle Eastern tourists.

Right on, gary. My only beef with the Aussies is how they've treated their native aboriginal people and the attempted extermination of the kangaroo population by a select few. |
Yeah. the aborigini's only wish there was such thing as a "Reservation" out there. It's appalling. As for the kangaroos, it's sad that they're treated as they are, but they're everywhere. What's tragic is the Aussie's attempts to utilize 'roo as a substitute for beef.

I don't know anything about the huge east coast cities, but going to Perth, on the west coast was major cool. Great folks, not a huge tourist place. Women were awesome....did I mention women were awesome? |

A few of my coworkers did some work in Perth and really enjoyed it <as much as you can when you're there for work>.
I was actually in downtown Sidney the day Australia did their big "I'm sorry" to the Aborigini's. There was a march of about 200,000 people and a plane in the skies over Sidney wrote a big "We're Sorry". |
