Seeing the Suns win the NBA title is one of my few remaining goals in life (scary since I am still under 40). Thus, I wanted to start a thread for them where we may all pray for Amare's knee, the health of which may finally bring that elusive banner...

I felt so special when I got an Amare jersey at 1/2 price during last year's playoffs. Then I felt like such a tool when I found out he was changing numbers.

So it is a vintage jersey now, just like a Barkley or KJ jersey...

I think the Suns are well jinxed without any help from me. Undoubtedly, the Suns are the most cursed franchise in all of sports.

"Suns sign forward Jumaine Jones
August 31, 2006

PHOENIX (AP) -- Jumaine Jones signed a one-year contract Thursday with the Phoenix Suns, who added an outside shooting threat to their roster.

The 6-foot-8 forward, a seven-year veteran, will be going to his sixth NBA team. He averaged a career-best 10.5 points for Charlotte last season, including a career-high 31 against the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 3. He played in 76 games, 42 as a starter. "

Good pick up. Something of a replacement for Tim Thomas, but probably a better rebounder. D'Antoni is going to have to struggle to find minutes for everybody, but they have pretty good depth at just about every position if they can stay healthy...

I saw that foulpole had posted a Suns topic in a new thread, so I thought I would bump the original thread to see if we could keep the Suns stuff in one central location.

With the season coming closer, there will be more Suns stuff to put here.

This Banks guy is lookin' pretty good!

I saw a game vs. a European team ( wearing yellow unis, don't know who they are ) last night and this guy can pass, shoot, and run the floor.

Good stuff Maynard!

Hey fp. They were playing Maccabi Tel Aviv. Banks is generating some good ink the preseason. On a couple of occasions, he has been on the floor for long stretches, and the Suns' offense has managed to run smoothly. Plus, he improves team defense a lot. This was definitely a good pick up.

Since I believe that the Suns are the most cursed franchise in all of sports, I am assuming Diaw will slip on a banana peel and be rendered a vegetable sometime between now and the start of the playoffs. Either that, or he will be perfectly healthy and shoot 20% from the field for the next five years... (However, without benefit of knowing that the curse will get him, this is a very good signing, and the cost was more than reasonable).

In the few preseason games that I have seen his D is really solid. Nash should be able to get more blow time during the regular season and have more left in his tank for the playoff run.

With the additions of Banks, Jones, Marks and Piatkowski I really like our depth.

Lets hope that Amare can stay healthy and we can make a strong run at the title!

That is the key. I will be 40 years old next month, and I have waited my whole life for a Suns NBA title...

The first playoff year that the Suns were in existence was 1969, so during the 1st three years of your life you were anticipating Phoenix getting a franchise? Wink

All right, if you want to be a smart ass Very Happy, my first real Suns memory is Game 5 against the Celtics on June 4, 1976. Since that date, I have waited patiently for a Suns' championship. It is all that I need to feel like my life is complete.

As I say, the Suns are cursed.

Hank,

Please do NOT pick the Suns to win the title!!! That would only seal the deal.

* Eternally grateful that you picked the Tigers over the Cards!

I consider it mortally bad luck to bet on one's own team, so I would not want to tempt the curse. In any event, with Amare's physical and emotional issues, the team's shooting struggles with the new ball, and general Suns bad luck, I am actually afraid this year may be a bit frustrating. Thus, I think the Spurs will win the NBA title.
