What would they want for Miguel Cabrera?

More than Byrnes would want to give, most likely. I love Cabrera; he might be my favorite player next to Pujols, and I think would be the perfect veteran/power bat deal that we could use to round out the lineup. (Not to mention the fact that he can play the two positions that are most questionable for the Dbacks right now) His AVG, OBP and SLG (and by extension OPS) have gotten better every year he's been in the league, and he had an OPS just a red cunt hair under 1.000 this year. His power numbers did drop significantly this year for whatever reason, though. Oh yeah, and he'll be 23 when the season starts next year.

But I don't think there's much of a chance we get him for anything less than 2 of Qudjy's namesakes.

I might consider it for Jackson or Upton plus Estrada and Hairston, though I'd like to save any "golden boy" trade for a pitcher.

I think that it's clear that we're not trading any of the golden boys. However, if we move Estrada and Byrnes for prospects, that could give us the prospects we need to pull off a trade, and maybe move one of QUDJY's.

The way to go this year, though, is to move Estrada for prospects or a decent #3 starter, let Upton and Carlos Gonzalez develop more, and whichever seems like they'll be ready to go, make the guy they're rplacing the guy that gets moved.

I'd look for something big next off-season. The Twins already picked up Hunter's option for next year, but they won't be able to keep him past that. Santana is coming up on arbitration /FA and they might not be able to keep him either. So the Twins could be looking for a top, young guy to replace Torii Hunter after next year and figure that Liriano will replace Santana. And if maybe Upton looks like he'll be ready to in '08, make a move to the Twinkies for Young, and the prospects we get back for Estrada and Byrnes.
