Amen.

I got 86-ed out of my own house tonight.

I tried to explain to my wife that the Dbacks were playing so fugly they were causing me brain hemorrhoids... but she didn't listen. Or maybe she did but I wasn't paying attention...

Anyhow, we'll need Doug to show up tomorrow.

Btw, I'd never paid much attention to Hurdle, but I think he's one of the most annoying human beings I've ever laid eyes on. What a ####

In DD we trust. I think he's going to have a big game tomorrow. Although that won't matter if we don't get timely hittng. The D-backs actually out hit the Rockies tonight 9-8. Making that stat even odder was they had no xtra base hits. Two passed balls really cost us though, and the four walks. I'm a little worried actually, the Rockies really didn't hit that well, or for power I should say.

Laughing There are plenty of other bars in the sea, my friend.

Gotta win tomorrow, losing both then hitting the road in a 2-3-2 series is just asking for it. This could be our best shot at the World Series for a while, no matter how good the team gets in the future. Gotta make the most of the opportunity.

Now comes the tricky part for the Rox: facing left-hander Doug Davis. They were 70-49 vs. right-handers during the season, 20-24 against lefties. ...

Davis, like most other ballplayers, has his share of superstitions. "I've had the same spikes all year, and I don't jump on the foul line," he said. Not that he doesn't have his limits. "I'll change my undershirt." ...

Davis, when asked how familiar he was with tonight's Rockies starter, Ubaldo Jimenez: "I don't think I've ever faced him before. I don't really know him all that well. I know he throws 100 and he's got a good hook. He's in the big leagues for a reason."

PHOENIX - The increasingly popular fans of the Arizona Diamondbacks finally had a Howard Beale moment, to reference the fictional character played by Peter Finch in the 1976 movie Network.

Their critics, who are legion, probably didn't think they had it in 'em.

Unfortunately, the D-backs may require considerably more of this emotionally charged chaperoning to conquer the latest team they aren't expected to handle. That, of course, would be the blistering Colorado Rockies, who were 5-1 winners Thursday in Game 1 of the NL Championship Series at Chase Field.

And now that the D-back doubters have been appeased, it will be up to Doug Davis to keep Arizona from losing its Tom Emansky card and staying out of an 0-2 hole with really tragic historical underpinnings.

"I may put the batter to sleep while I'm out there," Davis said of his unhurried approach. "So if I get them off balance, that's what pitching is."

If he can avoid putting the "Z" back in the AZ fans, the Diamondbacks could be in much better shape than they were in Game 1.

Randy Hill / FOXSports.com

It's up to DD and the Diamondbacks to even this thing up tonight. Let's go crazy again (thrown objects excluded) and be even
LOUDER and REDDER! Razz

Ok, time to put up a W and square this series.

Let's go Davis...*orchestrated claps take place*
Let's go Davis...*orchestrated claps take place*
Let's go Davis...*orchestrated claps take place*

You know, I've seen flyovers take place at the old Candlestick Park, notably during the previous all-star game there, but the one last night,
with the jet fighters from Luke during the national anthem...

GOD DAMN! That was awesome!
When I looked up and saw those 4 planes appear over the outfield roof and tear across the opening it was incredible! My heart stopped. That alone was worth at least half the price of admission last night.

Tonight at the park, we need to start the rallies from the stands. We can't wait for the rallies to start on the field to begin cheering. We have to root them home for a W tonight.

Now I know there may be some Dbacks fans out there who think we're going to blast his ugly (insert preferred word here) to somewhere on the other side of the river so I can expect a W on the board when I come home, right?
Oh yeah, he hit a batter each time he faced us (twice) so let's see who gets hit tonight. Will Upton be in the lineup tonight?

For game 7 of the 2001 series, they had a stealth bomber fly over the stadium. I am now jaded for anything less, but last night was pretty cool--they were right over the stadium when they came by.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but the always vocal Jim Joyce is behind the plate, so we will know when a strike is called. The bad news is...

Diamondbacks are 2-8 in their last 10 games with Joyce behind home plate.

seems Mr. Joyce isn't a fan of the team, and being in a bottle storm probably didn't increase his love towards the team and fans.

Other trends:

# Rockies are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Arizona.
# Diamondbacks are 5-0 in Davis' last 5 starts as a home underdog.
# Diamondbacks are 5-0 in Davis' last 5 starts when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.
# Diamondbacks are 5-0 in Davis' last 5 starts during game 2 of a series.
# Diamondbacks are 15-3 in Davis' last 18 home starts.
# Diamondbacks are 5-1 in Davis' last 6 home starts vs. a team with a winning record.
# Diamondbacks are 9-2 in Davis' last 11 starts as an underdog.
# Diamondbacks are 13-3 in Davis' last 16 starts.
# Diamondbacks are 13-3 in Davis' last 16 starts on Grass.
# Diamondbacks are 8-2 in Davis' last 10 starts vs. a team with a winning record.
# Rockies are 8-0 in their last 8 when their opponent allows 5 runs or more in their previous game.
# Rockies are 10-1 in their last 11 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.
# Rockies are 5-0 in their last 5 during game 2 of a series.
# Rockies are 4-0 in their last 4 games vs. a left-handed starter.
# Rockies are 5-0 in their last 5 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.

That's okay. Anyone has to be better than McKlelland yesterday. His blaise, after-the-fact calling of strikes was thoroughly annoying. By the time he made the call I had already called it myself and adjusted the count in my mind.
