Smoltz' option picked up by Braves

Not that AZ was going to sign HIM, but one less guy in a thin pool to begin with...

Edit: The option was for 8M... pretty fair IMO...

smoltz has been getting on my nerves all season anyway. he's been pulling a gonzo since day one, and demanding that ownership spend money/trade for veteran support/etc. blah.

Yes but in this market he is a bargain next year. I'd put up with his belly-aching next year for 8MM if I were Atlanta.
