here is the deal.......

here in NJ I have mets and yankees fans all over me about my favorite team....(I throw 2001 WS out to yankmess fans so fast thier heads spin) and how we are not going to be .500 again.....then they say to me that we will not even have a better record than last year....."AZ is getting worst..hahaha" I/we know that is not the case...I can only give them so many minor league stats, articles, info without them calling me a stalker.....what i get from them and it sets me off "great now i know what players my Yankees can buy in 5 years" Embarassed Crying or Very sad

So I ask the dbacks nation.... Is 2006 better than 2005 even though we might have a worse record??

I say YES loud and proud...here are the reasons...

1)kids can up and played
2)moved the "G" force out of town
3)fat russ was moved on and OUT
4)webby became our ace
5)looks like JB is making baseball decesions and not what is best for the "face" so some fans stay happy

just was wondering what the rest of the PEN thinks....

ps im still holding out hope for a better record and maybe .500....

You could remind them of how much they spent on RJ <salary & prospects> and of what we yielded from that trade and will be happy to sell them in 5 years.

You can remind them of their minor league system and how it will perpetuate them overpaying for players forever.

You can remind them of the only team in the league championship series to give up the series after being up 3 games to none <by the way who was it they gave the series up to?>.

Oh and how much are you guys paying Pavano for every game he actually pitches?

You can point out the run differential last year, (Outscored by 160 runs).
Last years team was lucky to win more than 70 games.

This years team has only been outscored by 11 runs. Thats a HUGE upgrade from last year. Even though it did not translate into more wins, the team got better, and with Josh Byrnes at the helm making smart personnell decisions, and the further development of the kids, it's only gonna get better next year and the years beyond.

He who laughs last.....etc. etc.

Also, be sure to point out that with the $ saved over the next 3 yrs from minimal salary, we'll be able to save enough $ to afford our players when they become big-time free agents. We're not the A's or Twins.

This year was absolutely better than '05. Look at where the team was 1 yr ago to today, and we couldn't have asked for things to go any better. Glaus moved for decent talent and $ saved. We got the best deal that we could for S Green. Drew a hard-line with Gonzo. Estrada and Byrnes were good acquisitions for the cost. Homegrown products given chance to play, and they don't disappoint. The Run differential this year vs '05 was vastly improved. Our own B Webb establishes himself as a potential consistent Cy Young candidate.

It's a pisser we didn't take advantage of a weak division and get into the playoffs, but nothing has been screwed up otherwise. Uggla is the only dark spot on what has been a productive, promising year.

RJ is a great point to bring up, just don't mention what we got back in the deal (Green).

We got hosed in both those deals for RJ and Schill, but at least we have 1 player to show for it.

I stand by the Johnson deal. Given the amount of money the Yankees ate, I think Arizona received a fine return at the time.

The RJ deal was fine at the time, but didn't turn out so well. Chris Young is still the determining factor in that whole thing.

lol, I forgot that Vazquez in the deal.

So, after checking BR:

RJ for Vazquez, Halsey, Navarro, and cash

Navarro, Beltran Perez (minors), Danny Muegge (minors), and William Juarez (minors) for Shawn Green and $10M.

Halsey for Cruz

Vazquez and cash for Dookie, Vizciano, and Young

Dookie for Julio

Green and cash for Evan MacLane.

Net result:

RJ, Beltran Perez (minors), Danny Muegge (minors), and William Juarez (minors) for Vizciano, Young, Julio, MacLane, cash, and major frustration for CQ and us on the board.

It took a while but in the end we got good stuff in the deal and deals based on players related to it!
