Conor and Tracy, Gloves of Steel
Given foulpole's sick love of Tracy, I'd have to assume that "foulpole" is actually McCray's girl-friend/wife
[edit] Also from the article:
Quote:
Alberto Callaspo will serve as a backup to Tracy and will play all over the infield, while Brian Barden will compete for a backup infield role as well. Robby Hammock could also see time at the corners in a backup role if he makes the team as the third catcher.
Down on the farm: If Barden does not make the big-league roster out of Spring Training, he will be Triple-A Tucson's everyday third baseman, with Chris Carter at first. Jamie D'Antona will see time at both positions for Tucson.
Mark Reynolds will likely start the season as Double-A Mobile's starting third baseman, with Brandon Burgess and Cesar Nicolas battling for playing time at first.
So the Dbacks have decided to leave Reynolds at 3b next year. Smart.
I really don't see how Barden would benefit from another year in AAA.
If you assume 11 pitchers and 14 position players, you have:
Snyder
Jackson
Hudson
Drew
Tracy
Quentin
Young
Byrnes

worst case scenario, barden can spend another year in AAA, right? i just don't see them ditching byrnes, as much as we'd all like it to happen. but if they stash barden in tucson, they can keep hairston as a bat off the bench or something. it's better than losing him for nothing.
and lev, fp ain't the gf/wife. i did once make a move on fp, but we both felt really weird about it afterwards. and he wouldn't wear the plastic martha stewart mask. so it just didn't work out.
(the gf claims she doesn't wear it, either. she's making me post that.)

That will be interesting but perhaps if they can find a place for Mark and leave him there for more than 2 games in a row, he will work out the glove issues. Not sure he is a hot corner kind of infielder, but ...
As for Burgess, he unfortunately is much like Carter defensively tho not nearly as awkward on the field. Can't remember where he played in college, but after seeing players like Alberto Gonzales who are just all around good athletes, it is tough to watch the ones who don't have as many defensive tools.
