Now Gambo sucks up to him saying he bought a #41 Johnson NY jersey last year.

RJ started by saying, "Hold on guys, I've fallen and can't get up." Laughing

He probably owns all the Yankee jerseys.

Gambo's only questions are about his beloved Yankees. Dude, this is Phoenix. What about RJ's future performance here???

*sigh* I was hoping that the move from 910 to 620 would result in less product placement announcements. Oh well. "power toyota" sportsline my ass.

"I'm very confident about my return from this back surgery. My back was in better shape this time before surgery than it was 10 years ago before that back surgery. I'll be behind everyone else...I'll be playing catch next week and will be moving forward quickly...I have a lot to offer and will win ballgames."

"My mechanics faltered in NY trying to be a different pitcher than what I was. Maybe because my back was bothering me."

"I can be very effective w/o throwing 98 MPH. Last year I carried more no-hitters into the 5th inning than I ever had before. What I missed last year was consistency. When you're pitching through pain and discomfort you tend to change your mechanics which threw me off last year."

"For some reason I wasn't as animated in NY as I was with the Diamondbacks"

"I'm not throwing 99MPH anymore, but I see a lot pitchers not throwing 99MPH who are very effective"

"I took more no hitters into the 5th and 6th in '06 than ever in my career"

"Back hurt at beginning of season. Had to make adjustments. Too much searching."

He emphasized how proud he is of Brandon Webb and how much he looks forward to being his teammate this year.

"After being in NY for 2 years....the time that I was there was very enjoyable. "

He expected that he'd finish his career in AZ but his brother's death sped that timeline up by a year.

I'll leave it to you, TAP.

RJ says it was inevitable that he would end-up his career in AZ.

Oh yes... RJ snaps back at the dumbasses. Laughing

Randy challenged Gambo to admit that there's an outside chance to win 300 games. Gambo backtracked, started sucking up again, and told him he's the best left-handed pitcher in the last 30 years.

The best Gambo could manage with Randy's challenge was to say he "hopes" Randy gets 300 wins. Randy graciously said, "thank you."

He also agreed to come on any time with Gambo and Ash and they were clearly surprised, based on their previous Randy bashing.

Granted, with magic page #51. I'm certain Randy's presence with the Diamondbacks will be well chronicled in numerous other threads moving forward.

This thread is truly an interesting read from beginning to end as the trade and various viewpoints evolved.
