Right now it looks like
1. Chris Young CF
2. Orlando Hudson 2B
3. Chad Tracy 3B
4. Conor Jackson 1B
5. Eric Byrnes LF
6. Carlos Quentin RF
7. Stephen Drew SS
8. Miguel Montero C
9. Pitcher
1. Brandon Webb
2. Mark Mulder
3. Livan Hernandez
4. Doug Davis
5. Edgar Gonzalez
It looks good. Assuming that Eric Byrnes stays and Mark Mulder comes here. So three questions, here.
1. What are the chances of Mark Mulder coming here and Eric Byrnes being traded?
2. Who leads off?
3. Will Tracy be replaced by Mark Reynolds and Edgar Gonzalez by Micah Owings?

Pencilling in Mulder??? I think if AZ were to sign him, and stay under budget, Byrnes would have to go.
I see the only way tracy is gone, is that a pitcher comes back - thus, no mulder... I htink tracy is back next year. |

Ew. The very idea of Byrnes batting higher than Drew and Quentin makes me shudder. It also re-enforces the point of trading him since Melvin would actually do that.

I hope that Snyder and Montero split time equally this year. Snyder deserves more than a backup job. He did a great job last year, and is great defensively (IMO).
Also, I doubt Mulder is here next year. If we can trade away Byrnes, it will be for pitching. And as someone else said, I doubt we are able to have Mulder AND Byrnes under the payroll. But if we get rid of Byrnes it will add a starting pitcher (unless he just brings in minor leaguers, which I doubt...), and we wouldn't need Mulder any longer. |

That looks like an offense that will be fun and exciting to watch. I would tweak it a little, however. I don't think CoJack's a cleanup hitter. He would fit better in the #2 or 3 spot in the order. I think that Quentin would be much better as cleanup and finally fill the gaping hole we've had there for the past several years (maybe not early, but towards the end of the season and definitely next year). |

Here is the link to an article about the 2007 lineup. There is nothing in it that I dont think anyone already knew/assumed:

The guy manages to write an entire article focusing mainly on who will bat leadoff, and never once manages to mention OBP, but he mentions batting average repeatedly. |

Chris Young and Eric Byrnes were cited as leadoff possibilities because they both steal bases. We don't need no steenking OBP, but "power" was mentioned 4 times regarding lineup order.

Shoe, OBP was mentioned a couple times:
Quote: |
Melvin could always turn to second baseman Orlando Hudson and perhaps shortstop Stephen Drew, players who appear to be more high-average, better on-base percentage types. |
Quote: |
"(Power) is not something you push on a guy like that who's been a high on-base guy, a guy that uses the big part of the ballpark and the whole field," Melvin said. |

Don't worry the line-up will be taken care of.
