"Dave Roberts agreed to an $18 million, three-year contract with the San Francisco Giants on Saturday, reuniting the outfielder with manager Bruce Bochy."

"Roberts' speed give the Giants a dimension that they had been seeking. He will likely hit in front of Omar Vizquel, giving San Francisco two base-stealing threats at the top of the lineup."

Yeah they can no longer blame that urine smell in the dugout on Alou's hands.

I for one am not happy to see Dave Roberts remain in the NL West. He always has killed us, especially here in arizona.

152 PA .357/.400/.579 .979 OPS 36 runs 20 RBI 14 SB 1 CS

He's a royal pain in the Diamondbacks ass.

He also gets on base pretty good and played excellent defense last year.

He's probably not a good bet for 3 years, given his age, however I bet he continues to be a major pest in 2007

Not so fast qudjy...we could soon see Bionicbonds. With the new technology he could surely play an entire 162 game season. Wink

That old rule doesn't apply any more. Teams don't have to offer arb to their players with the new CBA.

Signing Roberts is great for this year, quite possibly next also for SF but it won't be a long term good deal. You never know though, speed can be gone like that and once Roberts loses his speed he's in trouble.

Good for him though. It's not often that you see a guy who didn't get his first full season in the big leagues till he was 30 get $18M.
