After my win last night(which also coincided with my internet access being down until a few hours ago) I'm going to keep my good mojo going by posting this one early since this is a Webb start.

Gonzo is 0-11 against Fogg. He hasn't sit since his hissy fit. This would be the perfect time. Still, I doubt he sits. Tracy is 8-13 against Fogg with 3 HR. |

RHP Josh Fogg is 8-7 this season (47-49 lifetime) with an ERA of 4.59 (4.71 career). He's started 23 games this season, with 133.1 IP. He's got 68 Ks this season, against 45 BB and 4 HBP. He's also given up 150 hits, for a WHIP of 1.46 (1.43 career). He tends to have more fly outs than groundouts (156/167) this season, although in his career, he's had more GO (1052) than AO (955). The go/ao ratio shifted last season, and has continued this year. Lefties have been hitting at .299 against him, while right-handers have hit .276. He's been hit harder at home than on the road (5.37/3.88 ERA); and during the day, as opposed to at night (6.14/4.28 ERA) -- a positive sign, as this is a day game at Coors Field.
Fogg is 4-3 in his last ten starts (4.20 ERA, 60.0 IP; 15 BB/29 K), coming off a win against the Cubs at Coors on Aug. 12. He last faced the Dbacks on July 22nd at Chase Field, pitching 6.0 innings, giving up 5 hits, 3 earned runs, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. (That was a no-decision game for Fogg.) He won his only other start against the Diamondbacks this season on April 13th at the ballpark formerly known as BOB.

Lineup. After a promising lineup yesterday, Melvin is back to his old tricks. Gonzo still doesn't get a day off (even against a pitcher who has owned him), Byrnes leads off, Ponch is catching, Q benched, and Drew banished to the 8 hole.
Code: |
E. Byrnes cf .279
C. Tracy 3b .280
L. Gonzalez lf .284
C. Jackson 1b .277
J. Estrada c .301
S. Green rf .283
O. Hudson 2b .284
S. Drew ss .321

I wonder if Melvin has heard the phrase, "Actions speak louder than words?"
You can't claim to be in favor of playing Jackson, Quentin and Drew, and expect to be believed for long, when you keep filling out lineup cards such as the one we see today...
This does not bode well for the day when Counsell and Clark return...

Luis must have some major dirt on Melvin, as Bob seems scared to death of him since his July 20 temper tantrum.

3 up, 3 down in the top of the first.
Byrnes and Tracy K.
Gonzo flies out to RF.

Well! - you KNOW it would be insulting to Shawn Green for him to have to hit EIGHTH! |

Sigh...
Tracy fields a routine grounder and throws the ball into the stands, allowing 2 runs to score...
That's two runs without a hit: two walks and a monster error...

As TAP makes his way to the radio to turn on the game, he pauses to reconsider...

Looks like Tracy's at it again. WTF? We got to do something about that. He's becoming a liability. And even when he does throw somebody out he's throwing up the line and getting CoJack hurt. Damnit! |

What is with Chad Tracy? Is it the "yips" or what? This is happening too often and we cannot contend with this errant defense. There comes a point where we have to ask if it's worth having him out there giving runs away even though he's a good bat. |

Wow - Shawn runs up Fogg's pitch count by 9 then gets a single. How about that? And then O-dog grounds out on the first pitch which was too low according to the Sportsline diagram here
