I know this is way too early to claim the game thread but hang on a sec.
I would like to propose that we give the Webby start to Admin. in honor of the resurrection, rise from the ashes, Phoenix, of the message board.
I think that it's great karma.

• Starting pitchers: Marlins LHP Scott Olsen (9-5, 3.92 ERA) at Diamondbacks RHP Brandon Webb (12-4, 2.74).
• Key Marlins hitters vs. Webb: Miguel Cabrera 4 for 13; Mike Jacobs 0 for 3; Wes Helms 0 for 4.
• Scouting report: Olsen will try to rebound from his first loss in more than a month, although it hardly was his fault. He left Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 3-1 lead in the seventh inning before the bullpen faltered. He had won seven of his past eight decisions entering that start. . . . The Diamondbacks entered this series hitting .264 against left-handers, 13 points below their overall season average. They entered Friday hitting .291 since the All-Star break. . . . Webb, the NL's ERA leader, began Friday tied for the National League lead in wins with 12. He missed his previous start because of foreman stiffness, but threw a bullpen session Thursday and pronounced himself healthy. In his previous start, Webb allowed four runs in seven innings and beat the Chicago Cubs. |

Scott Olson's 2006 Major League #'s (he had 1 AAA appearance not included):
1.29 WHIP, .234 BAA (.160 BAA vs LHB and .257 BAA vs RHB), 3.92 ERA, 8.65 K/9, 2.25 K/BB, 1.04 HR/9 (all 14 HR's vs RHB)
How about an all RHB outfield tonight with Hairston in LF, Byrnes in CF, and Quentin in RF? |

I'd love to see that outfield tonight, but since BoMel said yesterday CJ was definately playing today, we'll be dang lucky if the OF is Gonzo, Byrnes, and Quentin.

Do they want to risk another Gonzo Hissy Fit scene if they don't opt for Door #1 ? Gonzo has discovered that it's good to be a Drama Queen.

F Gonzo and his F'n self-absorbed prima donna hissy fits! We're here to 1)win games, and 2)develop players to continue winning games next year and beyond.
Oops, I mean of course let's play Gonzo tonight in LF. He's the heart and soul of this team.

I am deeply honoured by this kind offer, and will endeavour to ensure that the results achieve the high standard which we have come to expect. Of course, it'd help if our offense managed more than three hits... But just in case we lose, I'm blaming Go Daddy.

At least Melvin is giving us a fighting chance by leaving Green and Tracy out of the lineup. Too bad he didn't listen to TAP and bench Gonzo too.
Tonight's lineup.
E. Byrnes cf
O. Hudson 2b
L. Gonzalez lf
C. Jackson 1b
C. Quentin rf
J. Estrada c
D. Easley 3b
S. Drew ss

Drew "with a sore right hand" was a last minute scratch.
Callaspo will take his place. |
