Here it is the updated 40 man roster:
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today that seven players were added to the club's 40-man roster. The team selected the contracts of left-handed pitcher Evan MacLane, right-handed pitcher Jailen Peguero, infielders Brian Barden, Emilio Bonifacio, Alberto Gonzalez, Danny Richar and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez.
MacLane, 24, began the year with Double-AA Binghamton and went 3-1 with 4.64 ERA (17 earned runs in 33.0 innings) in six starts. He was promoted to Triple-A Norfolk and went 9-8 with a 3.86 ERA (52 ER in 121.1 innings) in 20 starts. He was traded to Arizona in exchange for Shawn Green on Aug. 22 and went 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA (three earned runs in 8.0 innings) in two games with Triple-A Tucson.
Peguero, 25, spent the year working out of the bullpen at Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Round Rock. He was 2-0 with 14 saves and a 0.70 ERA (three earned runs in 38.2 innings) in 27 games with Corpus Christi. He finished the season with Round Rock and went 1-2 with a save and a 3.47 ERA (14 earned runs in 36 1/3 innings). He signed as a Minor League free agent with the Diamondbacks on Nov. 1.
Barden, 25, hit .298 (147-for-494) with 35 doubles, 16 home runs and 96 RBIs in 128 games with Tucson. He was named the organization's Player of the Month for July, batting .406 (41-for-101) with 12 doubles, nine home runs and 39 RBIs.
Bonifacio, 21, hit .321 (175-for-546) with 35 doubles, seven home runs and 50 RBI in 130 games with Lancaster (A). He hit .347 (137-for-395) against righties and batted .336 (44-for-131) with runners in scoring position.
Alberto Gonzalez, 23, batted .290 (126-for-434) with six home runs and 50 RBIs in 129 games with Double-A Tennessee. He played in four games with Tucson, going 3-for-15 with an RBI.
Danny Richar, 23, hit .292 (140-for-480) with eight home runs and 42 RBIs in 130 games with Tennessee. The second baseman hit .365 (38-for-104) during May, with 11 multi-hit games.
Carlos Gonzalez, 21, began the season with Class A Lancaster, batting .300 (121-for-403) with 21 home runs and 94 RBIs in 104 games. He hit .213 (13-for-61) with two home runs and 5 RBIs in 18 games with Tennessee (AA).
The Diamondbacks designated left-handed pitcher Randy Choate for assignment.
The Diamondbacks 40 man roster is as follows -- 19 pitchers, three catchers, 11 infielders and six outfielders and one utility player. The roster currently includes pitchers Greg Aquino, Juan Cruz, Casey Daigle, Edgar Gonzalez, Enrique Gonzalez, Livan Hernandez, Jorge Julio, Brandon Lyon, Evan MacLane, Brandon Medders, Dustin Nippert, Jailen Peguero, Tony Pena, Mike Schultz, Doug Slaten, Jose Valverde, Claudio Vargas, Luis Vizcaino and Brandon Webb; catchers Johnny Estrada, Miguel Montero and Chris Snyder; infielders Brian Barden, Emilio Bonifacio, Alberto Callaspo, Tony Clark, Stephen Drew, Alberto Gonzalez, Andy Green, Orlando Hudson, Conor Jackson, Danny Richar, and Chad Tracy; outfielders Eric Byrnes, Jeff DaVanon, Carlos Gonzalez, Scott Hairston, Carlos Quentin and Chris Young; and utility player Robby Hammock.
that sounds about right. because of the new CBA, the dbacks didn't have to add any of their 2004 draftees to the 40 man roster; that includes guys like ross ohlendorf, steven jackson, mark reynolds and chris carter...
here's the full 2004 draft... it might turn out to be a great draft for arizona. fwiw, kyler newby was the very last pick of that draft...
nothing about the new kid really jumps out. he dominated in aa, and that 0 homers in 30+ innings is definitely impressive... but he was repeating AA and he already is 25. he's playing winter ball right now...
he isn't a groundball pitcher either. his HR rate is rather low, however. not sure what his out pitch really is. whatever it is, he really has no chance of making the roster out of spring training. i see a lot of tucson time for him

Age for level is a valid point but having an ERA that low is impressive no matter what. Still, he is a minor league relief pitcher so it's not worth getting excited about it yet.

Infielder Andy Green is still on the roster but may not be for long. He is in discussions with the Japan Series champion Nippon Ham Fighters, and is expected to reach an agreement to play for them next season, at which point the Diamondbacks would receive financial compensation.
Anyone know how much compensation?
And more power to Andy Green.

No, wait they aren't the Red Sox... They're smarter than that.
