ESPN has an article about how Burrell has Philly by the balls with his NTC. Blah blah blah, the interesting thing is that it gives a list of players that have NTCs. Here is the list:

Quote:
Players with no-trade clauses in their contracts (* -- partial or limited):
Bobby Abreu, RF, NY Yankees
Lance Berkman, 1B/OF, Houston
Pat Burrell, LF, Philadelphia
*Eric Chavez, 3B, Oakland
*Bartolo Colon, RHP, LA Angels
*Johnny Damon, CF, NY Yankees
*Elmer Dessens, RHP, LA Dodgers
*Scott Eyre, LHP, Chicago Cubs
Jason Giambi, DH/1B, NY Yankees
*Brian Giles, RF, San Diego
Troy Glaus, 3B, Toronto
*Shawn Green, RF, NY Mets
*Torii Hunter, CF, Minnesota
Derek Jeter, SS, NY Yankees
Randy Johnson, LHP, NY Yankees
Jason Kendall, C, Oakland
*Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago WS
*Corey Koskie, 3B, Milwaukee
*Mark Kotsay, CF, Oakland
Derrek Lee, 1B, Chicago Cubs
Pedro Martinez, RHP, NY Mets
Hideki Matsui, LF, NY Yankees
*Kevin Millwood, RHP, Texas
Melvin Mora, 3B, Baltimore
*Bill Mueller, 3B, LA Dodgers
Roy Oswalt, RHP, Houston
Carl Pavano, RHP, NY Yankees
*Brad Penny, RHP, LA Dodgers
*Albert Pujols,1B, St. Louis
Alex Rodriguez, 3B, NY Yankees
Ivan Rodriguez, C, Detroit
Scott Rolen, 3B, St. Louis
*Johan Santana, LHP, Minnesota
Ben Sheets, RHP, Milwaukee
John Smoltz, RHP, Atlanta
*Mike Sweeney, DH, Kansas City
*Jose Vidro, 2B, Washington
Billy Wagner, LHP, NY Mets
*Jack Wilson, SS, Pittsburgh

Lots of Yankees on the list. Some interesting ones too: Elmo, Jack Wilson, Koskie, etc. It's one thing for a great player to have an NTC but giving marginal players NTCs is stupid. Thinking of players that shouldn't have NTCs, our own Tony Clark isn't listed so the list is not comprehensive.

I thought Tony Clark's NTC was only for the first year of the contract? Confused

It's nice to not see any diamondbacks on that list. I wonder how long that will last.

i'd guess a while. josh byrnes is from the boston FO, and NTCs were one of the things boston just really hated giving out -- avoided it at all costs, usually. i'm hoping byrnes keeps that philosophy out here.
