Philly papers are reporting that Burrell's representatives indicated yesterday that he would accept a trade to the Giants. That team could ask Burrell to switch back to first base, the position he played in 2000. Maybe that approach would work here.............

The D backs do not want Pat Burrell. He is never going to be a Diamondback. |

So it's not likely?
Is another thread needed so we can make sure?

I knew somebody was going to call on that, but obviously Philly Guy is a new member and didn't realize this has been discussed at length here already.

I've probably been defending burrell more on this forum than anyone else here, but let me re-emphasize that I couldN'T really care one way or another if burrell ended up in az or not.
That being said, it actually would suck if he ended up in san francisco...

how long is SF going to dick around? eventually, they're going to have to bite the bullet and rebuild. i guess having no minor league talent makes it easier to dick around, but really... save that salary, suck for a couple years, build a real team.
stupid ass sanfrancisco.

They are letting Finley go, and there's a high probability that Barroids won't be back in SF, but you're right -- their direction seems to be to exchange one old guy for another.

and who are we to critisize? if you ask me, it's nothing but a guarentee that we won't end any seasons in dead last for awhile and since '04 that is all i have found myself to be asking of this team. |

i don't know -- i think the organization really showed a fundamental shift last season. we started the season with moses and methusala in RF and LF, and each are gone now. our ancient rotation is getting younger. they're giving the kids an extended shot for once. i'm pretty happy.
