YES!
Marquis is a piece of shit pitcher. I'm happy that we'll never have to see his sorry ass pitching for the Redbirds ever again! |

Pitchers duel going on here....
Shawn Green just got a hit to break up Weavers no hitter....now that is clutch.
(Ok, it was the 3rd inning) |

Smart move by Glavine not to give in to Pujols there. The odds were very small that Albert would go fishing twice...(he struck out on a pitch low and out of the zone in the first). |

Yep. Weaver performed about as well as could be expected.
* Marquis would have given up 2 runs before recording his first out

i only saw a couple innings, but i was pretty pissed when weaver was throwing a nohitter after sucking so much ass this season.
i don't know why, but weaver has always just irked me.

Weaver pitched MUCH better the last two months of the season. Whatever Dave Duncan was feeding him was working a near miracle. |

that shawn green trade might just have been the move that puts st louis over the top this season. he's giving albert a run for his money as the nlcs mvp at least. just plated two cards in the bottom of the first.

Did you hear McCarver on the single by Albert, criticizing Wilson for not trying for 3rd...

Green did another dying quail dive at a ball you just knew he had no change of catching....
I am so glad we don't have to watch him next year.

and trax is shitting the bed, big time. 3 runs in, he got 3 outs in the first, none in the second, bases juiced.

Trax looked like he was pitching batting practice--nothing on his pitches. |

the mets NEEDED to win yesterday's game, no two ways about it. losing that game, and probably losing tonight, they're screwed.

Not even close to being over. However, tomorrow's game IS a "must win" for the Mets; don't see the Cards dropping both Carpenter and Suppan pitched games if Glavine shuts down the Cards a second time to get the series back to Shea.
Earlier today, the Tigers played "possum" for six innings before springing to life. For the Cards, they've done this for the past four months and are now playing their best ball in the playoffs. Some undoubtedly will credit the return of injured PVs.... but until they re-worked their bullpen, incorporating a lot more young pitchers (including Wainwright as closer) while reducing Looper's role and shutting down Isringhausen, the Cards were doomed to inevitable disasters. |

Tonight's game totally sucked (with apologies to shoe ), so in the spirit of good cheer, here's a blast from the past.
On this day in 2001, in a matchup of pitchers who have combined for seven Cy Young Awards and 457 victories, Randy Johnson threw a three-hit masterpiece as Arizona beat Greg Maddux and the Braves 2-0 in Game 1 of the NL championship series. |

Don't take tonight too hard John. It was doomed because the AZ Cards play on Monday. There are strict rules that a Cardinals team must be embarrassed every Sunday during football season. |

Well...hoping that only one Cardinals team gets embarrassed Monday night (the Bears are the only NFL team I've continued to follow and root for the past four decades)
It may be a challenge for the Cards-Mets game to even get played if the weather forecast remains. |
