Having missed 3 out of 4 in the Division Series, I may not be the best person to start this off, but here goes:

ALCS -- A's over Tigers (sorry Mac). I am having a hard time believing the Tigers can survive their offense, even with their great pitching. A's seem better balanced to me.

NLCS -- Mets over Cardinals. (sorry mg) The Mets are just a better overall team, even with the injuries.

I would be much less surprised to see the Tigers beat the A's than to see the Cards beat the Mets...

I'd probably pick 'em the same way, Hank -- and with the same apologies to our partisans here...

Tigers starting pitching and homerun power over the A's bullpen, defense, and patience.

The injuries catch up with the A's too.

Tigers in 6

Mets will need their starters to go deeper in a 7 game series than they did in the division series. The bullpen, as great as it is, will get fried by game 4 or 5 if they can't get at least 6 innings a few times in the series.

The Cardinals starting pitching is looking better, and the lineup is coming around. The memory of the near collapse of September is fading.

It's hard to not pick the Mets....but I just have a feeling about the Cardinals getting better as the post season progresses and the Mets starters eventually struggling.

I still gotta pick the Mets in the end, so I'll say Mets in 7. This could be closer than alot of people expect

A's over Tigers.

Cardinals over Mets.

Cardinals over A's.

That's all from my heart but I'm sticking with it. Wink

I had SD vs NYY in the WS...

so given that my revised predictions for the WS are the Mets vs the tigers, count on an OAK, STL Series...

i am CERTAIN the tigers beat the a's. and i am CERTAIN the mets beat the cards.

i was also CERTAIN the twins and yankees would advance, and that the pads would beat the cards, but hey -- i did pick the mets right.

so... judging by track record, if i was a betting man i'd go for the a's in the AL. i'm batting .000 in AL playoffs, so at this point the safe bet is betting against any and all gut feelings i had about those DH bastards.

i'll stick with mets over cards, though. i just hate the cards. (sorry, mg.)

I went 0-4 in the Division Series. Here are my picks that will probably be wrong

Det over Oak
StL over NYM

I know what I picked before (with the Twins over the Mets for the WS), but now that the Cards have emerged from the first round... and even though I had picked them (only to fall in round 2)... I have to go with the *heart* choices

StL over NYM (logically, not sensible... but with Mets pitching more questionable, this isn't as far fetched as it was before the post season began. And don't believe the regular pundits about "missing" Isringhausen--Cards are better off with rookie Wainwright as closer)

Oakland over Detroit (toss up, but Oakland appears ready)

StL over Oakland (*heart* choice and finally fulfilling TLR's dream of bringing a championship to StL)

OAK vs. NYM series... and the winner is... because the Cards will have worn the Mets' pitching down...

OAKLAND A's

This is just from the heart.

Let's see...I was 1-for-4 in the Division Series, so take these for whatever they're worth.

Tigers over A's
Cardinals over Mets

I'm going with the Tigers in 6 games the AL...One of the best 2006 run differentials..slightly better pitching.

I am going with the Mets in 6 games the NL. Better everything...except Pujols. Cardinals could pull it out if they could pitch Carpenter every other day though.

I don't care much about who wins but I'd really like the story if Detroit won. To see all those guys from the 2003 team get a ring would be really cool.

Also Infante, Santiago, Rodney, and Walker. Ten player carryover from a 119 loss team is fairly amazing

It speaks volumes about not trading away good young talent and instead trying to let them develop.

Coming very late to this thread, I know Detroit already won game 1. So...

Detroit over Oakland in 6 (I originally picked Oakland to make it to the WS, but I don't have as much faith in their pitching now as I did when I said that. Besides, Detroit is the feel-good pick)

New York over St. Louis in 5--I don't think this series will be much to watch. I just don't see the Cards hanging in there with the Mets. Even with Pedro and Duque out, I still think NY has a better overall staff than STL.

Detroit over NY in 7. Detroit's pitching will contain the Mets offense just enough to give the Motor City boys the edge.

I was 1-for-4 in my LDS picks, so here's hoping for some small improvement for the LCS.

I am torn......I still would like to see the A's win for obvious philosophical reasons. But I can't imagine rooting for the A's over the Mets, should it come to that, even though I don't agree with the methodology used by the Mets to construct their roster...(but kinda hard to argue with the results right now)

I think I may need a redo on the ALCS. My abysmal prognostication of the ALCS should give MG hope for the NLCS...

Hank,

Had you predicted the Cards, I would have given up ALL hope... and that would have been a clear signal to cash everything I own and bet it on the Mets. Wink
