verlander has some nerves, is overthrowing, if I was Pudge, I would of had him throwing his breaking stuff, and change-up, to start. Lucky arod s up.

Wow...I forgot this game was on early because of the rainout...

Turned it on just in time to see that nasty curve to get "Boo-Rod" looking with the bags juiced.

You gotta almost feel sorry for the guy.

(I said almost...of course 252 million reasons why NOT to feel too sorry for him)

Boo-rod, would look Good as a dback. He could hit 300 homers here over the next 7 years. From the 6 hole, of course.

Well, as long as you don't mind not being able to improve the pitching, and probably losing a couple of guys to free agency because they can't afford to extend them, then A-Rod would be a great addition for this team.

Honestly, I can imagine A-rod in San Francisco if they don't resign Bonds.

It seems A-Rod has been a Yankee forever, but he's only been in NY for 3 of his 13 major league seasons.

Yeah, he's never coming, nor would I want him. But if George was tired of his ass and gave us 80 mill...30 mil for a 6 hole hitter, is still a lot though. Laughing

There is an article today on MLB.com Giants site about Bonds, saying he would be fine with no playing next year, and indicating he is not open to a "pay cut"....

Whatever....but seriously, I can see Sabean sending a couple of top young pitching prospects to the Yankees to get A-Rod.

It's not hard to imagine at all. In fact, thinking of the teams and the GM's involved, and of course the players, it almost completely makes sense.

For all of people suggesting that A-Rod sucks, he still had an OPS of .915, and an OPS+ of 140 this year, which was second best on the Yankees. His defense stunk this year, but he is still one of the best hitters in the game.

If the Yankees dump him, somebody is probably going to get a windfall, because his trade value is probably less than his actual production merits.

Something totally weird is happening that I wanted to share with you guys... I'm here at work and we have a big screen in the office. Usually it's stuck on Fox News but I convinced my co-worker to switch it over to ESPN for this Tigers/Yankees game. I flip it on over to channel 33, you know, ESPN, but all that is coming through is the fucking YES network. Can anyone explain this?

I mean, it looks like ESPN, and smells like ESPN, but I could swear I'm 3000 miles away listening to the countdown to "yankees win! yankees win!"

This is really god-damned irritating and I'm not even a Tigers fan.

Oh, and that's some strike zone this umpire is calling, eh? Is he more likely to be Mike Mussina's brother or "Jason" Verlander's childhood rival?

i love verlander. he wasn't getting the corner outside call, even though mussina was, so he just started getting them to chase outside, or freeze on inside curves. there really is no stopping verlander.

and yes, this is a yankees wankfest on tv. they're LOSING, guys -- think you can start talking about how good the tigers are, just once?

seriously, if they win this game for verlander, i'm happy. they can get swept the rest of the series, i'm still happy. i set the bar low, and for once, maybe the tigers will sneak over it.
