Are you guys watching this?
I just saw the strangest double play....Kent out by a mile at home thanks to good throw by Green and good relay.....and then Drew followed Kent anyway, and was out too.

they just showed a clip from the 85 playoffs where fisk tagged two yankees at home on one play. so amazingly, this has happened before.

Was it in 95? In 85, the two AL playoff teams were the Royals and the Blue Jays.

I hate you Mota
someone break Nomars ankle...ok im not that mean..but seriously, the guy works so well under pressure, i'd just walk him anymore...of course you have Kent behind him...and Nomar was previously 0-3
anyways, time to get back to class, the dodgers better have lost when I check the score later on...

I just double checked Wikipedia. The Royals beat the Blue Jays in the 85 ALCS after falling behind 3-1. It was the first year of the seven game LCS, and the Blue Jays got robbed as a result.
After blowing the World Series in 1981 to the Dodgers (still among the happiest times in my life), the Yankees did not make the playoffs again until 1995. The Yankees pretty much stunk all throughout the 1980's.

Mets retake the lead. 2 outs. Men on 2nd and 3rd and Shawn Green grounds out to Nomar. Oddly familiar...

To be fair, sometimes he grounded out to second...

Shawn Green was the catalyst to the 2nd inning Dodger fiasco. Quit hating.

guess it wasn't 85, unless it was regular season. i'm just amazed that, at some point in the past, they sent two runners into a tag at home plate.
i can't believe someone was dumb enough to do that once, much less twice. the dodgers have earned a playoff loss with that moment. go mets.

Yep. The Dodgers lose by a run, so the stupid play cost them.

Shawn Green key to a playoff win. Another clutch performance by Mr. Green.

they just said on baseball tonight or whatever is on espn that it was 85, but didn't name the teams. but it was fisk who tagged out both trying to advance on a deep fly. don't know if it was regular season or postseason.

Unassisted Double Plays that do not involve interference generally fall into three types: Popups, Groundouts and Strikeouts plus caught stealing of home. From 1960-2004 there were 31 catcher UDP's. Eight were of the popup variety, four were groundouts, and nineteen were strikeouts plus caught stealing. A fourth variety is the very rare tagging out of two runners. Such notable backstops as Luke Sewell (1933), Darrell Porter (1979), Buck Martinez (1985), Carlton Fisk (1985), Darren Fletcher (1992), and Mike DeFelice (2000) accomplished this feat. Buck Martinez (TOR-A) tagged out Phil Bradley in a home plate collision that broke Martinez' leg. While sitting on the ground in agony, Buck tagged out Gorman Thomas who tried to score on the play.

IN THE NEWS: In the bottom of the third inning of a game between the Blue Jays and the Mariners, Phil Bradley is on second with one out when Gorman Thomas singles to right. Jesse Barfield's throw to Buck Martinez nails Bradley, though Martinez breaks his ankle in the collision. When Thomas tries to take 3B on the play, Martinez' throw sails into LF. Thomas tries to score but George Bell's throw to Martinez beats him. Buck makes the catch and tag while sitting on the ground.

It must have been regular season. Fisk never played for either the Blue Jays or the Royals as far as I can recall. I think he played only for the Red Sox and White Sox.

Yes, I just caught that as well. They mentioned it was 1985 and it was Fisk when he was with the ChiSox.
