...it will be only the second time since 1997 (the year before the Devil Rays joined the league) that the AL East didn' finish New York, Boston, Toronto, Baltimore, and Tampap Bay, in that order. The other was 2004 when it was NY, Bos, Balt, TB and Tor.

okay, a serious question here:

why are the devil rays so bad? they have a LOT of young, talented kids, they always draft high because they always finish last, and they should have an affordable core of players.

so why haven't they just locked up that core of players and gotten pitching?

seriously, am i missing something? will they ever be good?

Part of it is they aren't using those young kids right. The most well-known screwups were leaving Delmon Young and BJ Upton in AAA way too long (Young's bat incident notwithstanding). I don't think talent is the DRays' biggest problem, it's management.

I don't think I've ever seen a good pitcher in Tampa Bay either..except for Kazmir

I mean c'mon...Casey Fossum, we know what he's all about.

okay, it was a stupid thing for the mets to trade kazmir, BUT... i don't see that tiny little body holding up as a starting pitcher. i just don't. if i were TB, i'd flip him NOW for good pitching prospects.
