Here goes my undefeated record.
Fying in for the last 3 games.
Bye, Bye Gonzo.

San Diego (86-73) at Arizona (75-84) 9:40 pm EDT

PHOENIX (Ticker) - The San Diego Padres inched closer to the playoffs with their win on Thursday. They look to keep their postseason push going on Friday.

Clay Hensley will take the ball for the Padres in the second game of a season-ending four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

San Diego (86-73) are one game ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers (85-74) in the NL West Division with three games remaining. The Dodgers, who kept pace with a 19-11 win over Colorado, end their season with three games at arch-rival San Francisco.

Russell Branyan and Brian Giles homered to pace a 15-hit attack and Jake Peavy continued his late-season surge as the Padres posted a 12-4 victory over the Diamondbacks in Thursday's opener.

Hensley (11-11, 3.73 ERA) has pitched well after the All-Star break, going 6-5 with an impressive 2.43 ERA in 14 games, including 12 starts. In his last outing, the righthander allowed one run and seven hits in six innings in a 2-1 win over Pittsburgh on Sunday.

He will be opposed by Livan Hernandez (12-13, 4.95), who has been pitching well, going 2-2 with a 3.38 ERA in his last five starts. In his last outing, the righthander yielded one run and five hits in seven innings in a 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.

houston's losing. st louis is winning.

i can't even remember who i want to win and why anymore. it's just too complicated.

i think i want StL to lose, so carp doesn't have the "playing on a winner" thing.

i want houston to win to knock out StL then, but i don't want houston to win, because then it adds to oswalt's case.

i want the padres to win because i hate the dodgers, but i don't want them to win because that adds to hoffman's bullshit case for CY.

so i guess i want houston, stl, sd, and la all to lose.

but that can't happen. fuck it. too complicated.

That was a pretty pathetic play. Livan picks Roberts off but Jackson, with 3 attempts, can't pick up the ball. Had to be an E3.

No feed tonight...Bummer.

There are only three more chances to see our boys play before they will be taking the purple off for good.

That little disagreement just now between Gonzo and home plate umpire Larry Poncino on the called 3rd strike got me to wondering.......What would happen if Luis got tossed Sunday in the 1st inning over a disputed 3rd strike? Would the game have to be called due to the amount of debris thrown on the field? That would be major ugly.

Thom just gave us an inside joke, egging Grace on by asking him if swinging through the 60MPH breaking ball was like an "underwater swing." Laughing

Not sure who the others on the umpiring crew are, but an ump like C.B. Buckner comes to mind who seems to be a little trigger happy.

Wow, that could get real ugly...

I have no complications on this "issue." Wink

99.99% sure my dad will be sending a much happier email to me tonight than the ones I've been getting the past two weeks (it's rare that he misses a cryptic note on the Cards game, but he went through a four day absence during the current streak--too disgusted to write)

"Tracy singled to left."

It's nice to "see" Tracy going the other way.

tracy seems to be doing a lot better with the bat lately. i'd check his aug/sept batting numbers, but i'm eating chicken wings right now and i have too much goo on my fingers.

I'm grateful that you included the bit about the chicken wings before your closing phrase. Shocked
