Hank vs. TAP Gameday thread deathmatch, Game 1.

The next two games will decide the Gameday thread champion of the new board for 2006. If TAP wins on Sunday, he wins. Since that would mean a win for Webb and a probably Cy Young, let's all pull for TAP...

VERY wise move on your part, Hank. Even though you have established that you are "not" a jinx in the 2nd half, this makes certain that no one can blame you should Webby falter.

I could not have handled the pressure of taking Webb's final start with my "reputation," and I am pretty sure you all would have hunted me down and killed me had Webb lost on a thread started by me. I will take my chances with Juan Cruz.

I'll have to blame Gonzo if Webb loses. Laughing

Huh??????

No mention of "Driaz" saving your sorry ass as the board jinx???? Oh sure, once you make it to the top, so easy to forget the "little folks" on the way. Rolling Eyes

You know, before I offered my good name and reputation unselfishly to garner a dedicated game day thread win for you, you were the scum of the board!! I sacrificed for you, and I never asked, "What's in it for me?"

Hmmm, well.....what's in it for me???? Laughing

According to Melvin yesterday, it's so Cruz can get some much needed innings in, but reports are circulating today that Philadelphia scouts are in the stands today observing Cruz for a potential trade.

Montero will be the starting catcher today...

Mike Tulumello / East Valley Tribune this morning wrote:
Catcher Miguel Montero will start today, Melvin said.

With Johnny Estrada not expected back next season, Montero is expected to contend for major playing time.

“We feel like his demeanor and how he’s not in awe of anything, that those things play into the fact that he’s ready to play,” Melvin said.

Wow, Montero starts today. Snyder will probably start tomorrow also. At the last SF game Thom and Grace were all over Estrada. They were saying that they would be surprised if Estrada started another game for the team. I guess they were right.

i'm calling it:

the vets roll over, and the padres go up 3-1 going into the ninth. cruz pitches well, boosts his trade value, but we're down going into the ninth. bomel pulls the rooks and puts in the kids for the 9th, as a token appearance. hoffman loads the bases on a walk, a hit, and a bobbled infield hit. quentin hits a grand slam walkoff, dbacks win, padres lose.

and tomorrow, webb allows 1 unearned run through all 9. hoff comes in again, and once again the dbacks poo on his cy chances.

webb wins it in a landslide.

Cruz pitches two perfect innings, with 3 K's

The scheduled change brings in EdGon, and he 4 pitch walks the first batter <_<

How far did Roberts hit that fly? It looks like it went a long way on the Gameday screen.

He drifted back to the wall, timed his jump perfectly, and went just above the Yellow Padding to rob Dave Roberts of a homerun.

It was going out for sure otherwise... I played it in super slow mo replay twice Smile

I mentioned this before....but Jackson seems to have alot of hard hit balls that go right at people, and then he turns around and gets alot of bloop hits too. Strange.

With his recent hot streak, his BABIP is up to .322, which is slightly above league average, so I guess he has been getting more bloops to drop than hard hit balls caught.

Still a very healthy 20.6 line drive percentage.

All signs point towards a VERY good year for him next year.

I think Grace and Thom forgot that they are doing a national broadcast, not a local broadcast. Their homerism is showing through.
