Short Hops blurb from todays EV Trib article
Quote:
Brandon Medders, 5-3 with a 3.80 ERA, has pitched only twice since Sept. 4 while making 57 appearances in his first full season in the majors. “We gave him a little bit of a break because of his volume,” Melvin said.
I think there was a report sometime in August that his shoulder was bothering hom. Hopefully this "break" has not come too late. Still...glad to see they are not using him. I think he has been decent or good more often then not, despite some high profile rough outings. I definitely want to see him healthy and in that pen next year.
Medders seems to be able to get the job done most of the time, but really gets lit up occasionally. His stuff is pretty nasty and his motion makes his fastball difficult to locate and deceptively quick. He's one we should keep around. Seems to have a decent mental makeup and can spot his pitches.
