Hammock to get a few AB's off the bench:
"It would be a stretch to say that there would be a start involved," Melvin said. "[With a] double switch [or] pinch -hit -- there's potentially some at-bats along those lines, but probably not in a start."

Hairston to advertise his wares for a trade:
"There's going to be a spot for Hairston, whether it's here or some place else, if he continues to swing the bat the way he has," Melvin said. "Injuries have gotten in the way a little bit at times."

Good for Robbie. I don't know what his role would be next year, especially if Callaspo isn't traded, but I'm glad to see him make it back to the bigs.

Regardless of what this kid does for the rest of his career, he will always be THE GUY who caught RJ51's perfect game and was more excited about it than the big man himself Very Happy

It looks like Hairstons fate is all but certain,

He will be traded for a b or c level prospect during the off season. He has no spot on this team, and never will, and they have not given him enough major league playing time to give him any real trade value.

Hairston won't get more than one start and a few pinch hitting appearances during the final two weeks. Fossils have to be respected.

I'd sit Gonzo and play Hairston, at least on the road, if for no other reason than to increase his trade value.

But I think he should start in LF next year, and NOT be traded.

And I'm preaching to the choir. :)

I have always liked Hammock. It would be great to see him latch on here or somewhere in a utility role after all he has gone through to make it back.

This was posted on another board I was hoping someone here can help me figure this out.

Hey Guys,

I heard about Robby Hammock is back to DBacks for next season 2007. I am looking forward see Robby Hammock is coming back to D-Backs and after he is left from 2 years and he has been some of injuries while he was play with Randy Johnson. So does he has been feel better after he has been gone for 2 years. Can you care anyone know about Robby Hammock and he is catcher in AZ D-Backs,

I really couldn't believe that an adult could write something like that and then post it. It is bad enough to write it but then share it with the rest of the world wow.

Having taught high school on the Navajo Reservation for over 20 years, I "can" make out a semblance of the English language... and would guess that the writer is from another country.

They obviously like Robby and hope that he has recovered from his injuries.

Hey, we used to get some REAL puzzles when BK was with the team. Sometimes the characters were all garbled as well (like they were originally written in Korean and didn't translate very well on the English language message boards)

Taught in Tuba City. Been to Monument Valley a few times, but really know the TC area and a number of people there best. Very beautiful area as well--an oasis in the midst of the Painted Desert plateau (Just was up that way last weekend--very close friend passed away [only 31 yrs. old from cancer] and was close with the whole family).

Hairston started in LF tonight. How did he look defensively?!

I might have missed a couple of plays, but I think just a couple of routine fly balls. Nothing to judge on.

I got a speeding ticket outside of TC about a year ago. Luckily for me, the cop was really cool and wrote me a reservation ticket instead of an Arizona ticket. Reservation tickets are just fines and are not submitted to the MVD. Plus the fine is about 25% of the fine on a state ticket! I happily gave the Navajo Nation my $50.

I might know that TC cop (know quite a few; a couple are former chess players of mine). There's one guy that catches a few on the turnoff south on 89A to Cameron. There's a MAJOR speedtrap just south of Gray Mountain as well, but that is going to be state troopers.

I checked the map and I was on 160, not 89A.

IF you ever get up this way again, you can get a MUCH better breakfast in TC if you head to McD's but turn right at the corner stop light to Kate's Cafe (on right).

In old days, I would've recommended the Tuba City Truck Stop down at the stop light on Hwy 160; however, the Hopis didn't renew the lease of the former owner and took it over themselves a few years ago--it has rapidly gone downhill from its glory days when it seriously competed for the best Navajo Tacos in the world.

Navajo Taco--the "secret" is having great fry bread for the base.

This is then covered with chili (just beans or with hamburger meat) with just the right amount of seasoning. Then lettuce, shredded cheddar, and tomato bits.... VERY yummy when done right. Also very fattening and hard on the ol' gall bladder Wink

Hairston 2 for 2 last night. His 2006 MLB BA is now up to .556.

But then he was pulled for Gonzo, because - as we all now know - the most important hitting stat is the number of doubles.

That was the most ridiculously unnecessary move of the night, pulling 2 for 2 Hairston, whom we're trying to showcase for potential play or trade, to put in one-night-off Gonzo who proceeds to go 0 for 2 in support of Webb's attempt at the Cy Young.
