I was undefeated on the old board.

Wednesday, September 20 PETCO Park | 7:05 PM MST

Edgar Gonzalez, RHP (1-3, 5.26) Diamondbacks (71-79)
David Wells, LHP (2-4, 4.71) Padres (79-71)

Scouting Report:
Gonzalez pitched well in his last start on Sept. 6 against the Marlins but luck was not on his side as his opponent, Anibal Sanchez, completed a no-hitter. Gonzalez, who replaced a struggling Enrique Gonzalez in the starting rotation for the remainder of the season, gave up a pair of runs on five hits over six innings.
Boomer has not been on top of his game, or his killer curve ball, since turning his right ankle running the bases in his Padres debut. He maneuvered his way through five innings against the Dodgers on Friday night, losing a duel with Greg Maddux as he gave up six hits and two earned runs. Wells feels he'll figure out a way to work through the ankle sprain, but it clearly bothered him in each of his past two starts. His command is not as superb as usual, but the big man is still capable of winning big games.

I wonder if the Padres are happy so far that they traded their number two prospect for David Wells?

Well, if they are going to give Wells a 4 ft. wide strike zone, it's gonna be a long night.

Yup...gonna be a long night....did Wells even throw 10 pitches in the first?

Why isn't Carlos Quentin in there instead of Gonzo tonight? Because Gonzo hit well against Wells 4 years ago?

i was just about to post that i liked the tailing action his fastball has late in its approach -- and then that pitch gets smacked to the depths of petco.

Yeah, and he worked so well with Miguel too (Edgar), last time out. F-bomel, I said it. there. I don't know why, this stuff irritates so much, but I want to organize a revolt.

Everyone pay close attention to Edgar's stuff tonight - I need to know if I'm crazy or not. To me his pitches look like gray, slightly darker shade of gray, slightly lighter shade of gray, and grayish.

Yeah, a bunch of games have been gray this year. Then you see the high-lights on channel 3 and its technicolor. Is it a direc tv thing?

I'm referring more to the differentiation between them. Wink One moves a bit down, one moves a touch laterally, but none of them really do all that much. They sure aren't thrown terribly hard, and he doesn't spot them exceptionally well.

oh...well Livian's pitches looked gray last night too. Fire Bomel, and Price. Bomel, for the line-ups and Price for allowing the line-ups.Yeah, Edgar definitely has trouble with his off speed, and I'm not even watching the game. He's been locating the fastball well when I've seen him pitch though.

He's reminiscent of an Irish Setter.
