good hank, you took a vargas game. it was already lost.
(but if foulpole loses one more game, i swear i'll stop bugging you about it. it's just... "GET FOULPOLE" doesn't have the same ring as "GET HANK!" i'm sure you understand.)

Drew still has a sore groing.
I am going tmw, so I should get to see Chris Young play. Unfortunately it's Sunday, so I probably also get to see Tony Clark. |

It could happen.
I give Claudio a free pass on that homer...that was a ridiculously lucky swing by Matsui,
As Grace said...I have never seen a guy jump out of the way of a pitch and hit it out of the ballpark at the same time. |

Would they do that for just one game, as that is all that is left in the AAA playoffs?

I can't believe that Homer. Last time I seen Kaz was last month in Tucson and Owings got him twice and Slaten got him to on K's. Then again Owings was rolling that night. |

Micah Owings is a much better pitcher than Claudio Vargas. Vargas will get rather expensive next year, and I'd look to trade him if anyone would bite. He is NOT a good fit for Chase Field. Actually, he's not a good fit for any field, but at least he was cheap this year. I'd take both Edgar and Enrique over Vargas next year...

What do you think of Estrada, DS? Should they trade him for pitching and go with Snyder/Montero/Brito next year, or is Estrada too good to trade? |

Estrada is perceived as being too good to trade... which is why he's gone. If there ever was a player you HAD to sell high on, it's Estrada this offseason.

Thanks for the response, but I was asking Desert Surfer. I'd like to know his opinion on Estrada.

Depends on where Johnny wants to play next season. If he doesn't want to play in Arizona, he doesn't need to be in Arizona. However, if he'd like to stay I think he can be a valuable asset BUT if we can package him in a deal that would give us better pitching I'd let him go.

What Estrada wants doesn't matter. What Estrada needs doesn't matter. And he won't be a valuable asset in AZ. A veritable ass, maybe... Not that there is anything wrong with that...

Thanks DS for your thoughts.
Man.....I bet Chad Tracy wishes he could see Josh Fogg once a week. He will NEVER see a hittable pitch from Fogg for the rest of his life.
BTW...how does Josh Fogg still have a job as a starter in the major leagues? |

Quentin got nicked on the elbow on a check swing. The ump screwed up and thought it was a foul tip. The catcher caught the ball, so the ump called Q out of course. But the replay showed that the ball never even came close to the bat....was WELL inside, and that Quentin certainly checked his swing. It was not totally conclusive from the replay that Q was hit by the ball...but he was emphatically showing the ump where the ball hit him. The ump probably heard something, thinking it was the bat.
The ump went down to talk to the first base ump...and then came back and called Q out.
So Melvin came out and argued,...got hot...and got tossed.

THAT is a perfect example of why you want a contact hitter in the 8 hole.....and Grace agrees with me.
(I'm referring to Callaspos' RBI base hit there)
We have said this a million times.....stop batting a take and rake guy like Snyder 8th, and leave that spot for the hackers with contact skills. Make it HARD for the pitcher to pitch around the 8 hitter.
