Just announced on the post-game show.
Said he "didn't respond" the day after PH'ing and running; it was as bad as it's been when he got to the yard today.
MRI reveals fragments.
Doing this so he'll be ready next spring.

Todd just interviewed Chad Tracy on the post game show. I feel bad for Tracy, but hopefully he can come back strong next year. I wonder if Reynolds doesn't see some playing time at SS next season. |

that sucks big time.
As much as we knew this was probably the ultimate result......the realization of it is a real bummer. Especially after he showed no matter what he can still rope a line drive any time just the day before. I give him a lot of shit of not being able to hit lefty's and his iffy defense...but having his lefthanded bat around would have been nice. |

Was Tracy ever able to catch flyballs? I always envisioned him as the heir to LF when Gonzo vacated the position.

He wasnt very good in RF in 2005. He has ZERO range in the OF.
In our ballpark, you need to have fast outfielders with range. Tracy doesn't fit in the OF here at all. |

Spazz? That's why he's getting the big bucks, right?

Looks like one of the three (CJ, MR, CT) will be gone.
Because they cant be wasted on bench..

eh, CJ is used to wasting away on the bench... personally, I think it'd be a huge mistake to trade any of these guys, depth is always a good problem to have

Next year, CJ, MR, CT will be competing for 2 CI's
There is a logjam in outfield too, with Q.
I think JB might use Q and CT for pitching help.
I am not sure about Q's trade value now. It seems pretty low.
But D-backs dont have a choice i guess

i doubt MR is going anywhere.
I can see CJ leaving because it seems like they prefer Clark there anyway.
CT has become injury prone, but I wouldn't want to trade him away. If he gets healthy and returns to 2005 form, well, itd be nice.

I'm assuming that's a tongue-in-cheek comment? There's no way they favor TC of CJ long term. He's been getting a few too many AB lately, but it can't be a sing of next year. No way. Not even Kendrick is that dumb.
How about MR at 2B? Meh, if were going to happen they would have tried him there already, but it seems too good of an idea to not give a shot.

i was joking, but a lot of truth is said in jest.
I get the feeling that they're not all too excited with Jackson. I personally would prefer him over tracy; but i feel like if someone is getting traded, its going to be CJ.
this is all worthless conjecture though...

Put MR @ 3rd. CoJack @ 1st, re-sign Hudson, doubt that happens though. Hudson > Byrnes

If we're losing TC, I don't see why a platoon of CJ, CT, and MR can't work. We could go MR and CJ against all lefties, then mix and match vs righties.
None of them has earned a full-time job except Tracy, and he's proving that he cna't handle lefties.

that is ideal, especially since Tracy can play both positions, but i think they are looking to keep Tony the Tiger

Infielder Chad Tracy underwent microfracture surgery on his right knee Thursday, a procedure the Diamondbacks hope will allow him to return for spring training next year.

Micro fracture surgery ....?
same injury that Amare had..
It took him one year to recover.
I am not sure if Tracy can recover by spring training 2008.

yeah, it is the same procedure, i think.
Tracy's knees won't have the same demand of an NBA center, so maybe the recovery time is less.
i'm no doctor though

On the radio broadcast, they said the report was Tracy will miss 4-8 months. |

Josh Byrnes said doctors performed a lateral release on the knee as well as microfracture procedure. A lateral release involves cutting tight structures to the outside of the kneecap that are causing the kneecap to tilt abnormally. Microfracture surgery is used to restore knee cartilage by creating tiny fractures in the adjacent bones, which causes new cartilage to develop.
Estimates on how long it could take Tracy to return are anywhere from four to eight months, according to manager Bob Melvin.
Byrnes seemed more confident that Tracy would be able to participate in Spring Training next year.
"There's some healing that needs to occur," Byrnes said. "It's kind of hard to pinpoint a timeline, but our best guess is in the five-month range."

I think this might actually be a good thing. It's been pretty evident that Tracy's right knee has been hurting him for the last couple of seasons, and once everything is straightened out in there, hopefully he can return to 2005 form.

The front office is usually pretty tight-lipped about potential trades, but you would think that Tracy might have been a possible piece in the offseason.
With Conor Jackson further solidifying his standing this season and with Mark Reynolds’ emergence, Tracy looked like someone they could have shopped in the offseason.
But it’s hard to see anyone taking Tracy on in a deal until he shows he can return from the procedure.

I'd be OK with platooning the three (CT, MR, CJ) as it would be risky to let either of the 2 go without knowing where CT is at and CT is pretty much untradeable right now.
I don't see any of the three (or Q for that matter) bringing back enough quality in pitching to be worth tossing away. If we really want to field an Elmer Dessens type we've got a few options already on the team. |

The Dbacks offered Tracy to ANA for Joe Saunders, but the Angels declined.
Something tells me the Dbacks will be shopping Tracy again... unless they really sour on Jackson and Tracy comes back healthy and strong.
