When the Diamondbacks are on the field, the stories flash back in their minds. The drawn-out, last-gasp negotiations that went into signing Stephen Drew. The area scout who kept prodding in the middle rounds for the club to draft Mark Reynolds. The plan that was put into place years ago that now is paying dividends.

Neither may be around to properly enjoy the fruits of their labor, but make no mistake, Joe Garagiola Jr Razz . and Mike Rizzo are watching from afar and they are swelling with pride.

Garagiola, Razz the former Diamondbacks general manager, and Rizzo, the club's erstwhile scouting director, departed Arizona within 12 months of each other, the natural comings and goings that occur when ownership changes hands. Both left on their own terms for jobs they say they are enjoying.

I know you have deadlines to meet and articles to write and you're getting paid by the words you put on paper and not by your cherubic looks, but come on... what have I ever done to you for you to treat me with such disrespect?
