He's baaaaaaaack....

Quote:
ALBANY, Ga. - Wally Backman will get another crack at the Peanuts.

Three days after the volatile manager resigned, the independent South Coast League decided Friday that Backman could return to the South Georgia Peanuts.

Backman, who had several run-ins this year, asked for his job after packing his pickup truck, hitching his RV and getting set to drive home to Oregon.

``I think we've fixed all the problems in the past,'' he said. ``And from that, we're going to start over, a new slate.''

The league reinstated him, with a condition: Backman agreed to manage the Peanuts through the 2008 season. He can opt out of his contract only if he gets an offer to coach with a major league-affiliated organization.

This guy's got more ups and downs than a $3 whore.

(my apologies if I've offended any $3 whores on the board...) Wink

Detailed SI.com story on Backman's troubled year HERE.

Interesting 1st sentence in the story...

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -Wally Backman still comes to the ballpark with the same Arizona Diamondbacks duffel bag he had at his previous managing job, the one that lasted all of four days.

I don't know how many of you have been watching ESPN's "The Bronx is Burning" but I can't help myself to compare Backman with Martin.

If Martin was in this time he never would have gotten away with some of the things he did and if Backman was in that time we never would have known about them....
