Debated over whether to put this in Team News or Site Info, but figured here was perhaps more appropriate. Reprinted, with permission:

I just want you to know how impressed I am with the website and all of its users. I visit frequently and just wanted to compliment you on a continual job well-done.

Derrick M. Hall
President

That may be the least-expected email I've ever received. Very Happy But this place would be nothing without you folks, so I wanted to share it with you, and Mr. Hall was kind enough to agree.

Considering that the posters on this board speak their minds freely and aren't just a bunch of Diamondbacks cheerleaders, that was a very gracious message from Derek Hall. Laughing

Derrick has indeed been very interactive with the fans. I've seen him a number of times actively engaging various fans around the ballpark, and even has ventured to the upper deck a few times.

I may not post in every topic, or comment on anything and everything, but being a part of this board has really enhanced my knowledge of not only Diamondbacks baseball, but the sport in general.

This email all but confirms that I'm part of a very special community.

Appreciate the virtual high-five, Mr. Hall. If you are ever up in the SF Bay Area to see the D-Backs take on the Giants, I'd love to buy you a beer and talk about the team.

That's a fact.

Derrick, thanks for visiting our humble site and thanks also for the shout out. While at times it must require thick skin, you know we're passionate about the Diamondbacks. Keep up the good work!

I know I don't log on or post much but do still read here a lot. I have often wondered if, or how much, the players, coaches, or front office personnel might read here. I am thoroghly impressed that at least some of the above do! There is a lot of knowledge here and it's a great way to keep up with what the fans think (yeah, some fans don't think so much).

Thanks, Derek.

So has the whole "can't sit in open seats of open sections during 15,000 attendance games" been revised yet?

It's funny you mention that...especially the whole "some fans don't think" part. Those that know me know I'm a devoted Suns fan first and Diamondbacks fan second. My two outlets are this site and Phxsuns.net. Right now a lot of the ".neters" are conflicted over what's best for the team, what's best for the owner, and what's best for the fans. I always appreciate this site because the overwhelming majority think from the standpoint of what's good for the team. Today and the trades are a great example. Some fans would be pissed off calling out the owner, GM and President about not getting a deal done, but most understand that any deal they would have gotten done would have possibly hurt the team more than help. It's nice to read reason.

While we're discussing the Front Office...

I'd like to officially apologize to JByrnes & Co (including DHall, JMoorad and KKendrick) for doubting them today. I really thought at one point of time that they were doing to pull a Joe Jr on us and raid the farm for some useless "named" player. Should've known better that JByrnes & Co. are too smart to mortgage the future in the pursuit of some name guy to appease the common fan.

Thus, my apologies for doubting you. I'm reverting to being a homer. JB & co, you can do no wrong in my book.

Mr. Hall, you've been really great to the fans. Kudos.

To misquote a certain TB who posted here a while back, this board has come a long way from the AZ Central days. This is THE place to come for info & discourse on the D-Backs. I don't post much but I read here often for news & education. It shouldn't be a surprise that this board is perused by folks in the front office but it's nice to get the kind of feedback I've seen here. Thanks for the acknowledgment , Mr. Prez and a hearty salute to you and the staff.

Let me join the crowd and thank DH for the, in my opinion, richly deserved props. This board IS the place for Dbacks baseball.

But let me also mention the reason that this board became necessary; The official board for the Dbacks became so overrun with people that were determined to run off anyone that didnt hold thier beliefs.

Now from a personal stand point. I still dont like the Sedona Red Uniforms. They make us look like a generic team, whereas the old ones, like them or not, had a unique flavor to them.

Ok guys I know, this has been debated forever, but you guys know I wont go postal cuz I watch the team not the uni.

once again thanks DH for the very kind note.
