Anyone else get THE CALL this morning?
I got a call from Eric Byrnes today, asking me to buy tickets to the NLCS.
I hung up on Mr. POP UP! |

That's nice marketing strategy. Even though Eric would attract more fans to game 2 if he hit a couple of homers in game 1... and I don't mean two guys sitting in the left field bleachers...

I somersaulted over to the phone and said oK Eric, I'll be sure to POP UP to the ticket window and buy the remaining tickets.
Hey Eric, you told us all (well actually you told the SF Chronicle) before the season began that SF would win the NL West. Maybe some of your Giants friends aren't busy and might want to purchase a few tix.

In all seriousness, of course it's a good marketing strategy. Make the face of the franchise earn that moniker.

That would make a nice bit on his next TV show. Show him in a sweatshop phone marketing group making phone calls. Then have him say "Since I don't earn it on the field they make me earn it in other ways!"

I was sitting with Oden at Tuesday's fall league game when he got his call from EB. He handed me the phone............I tried to tell him to stop the damn summersaults before I realized it was a recording. |

I don't see why the D-Backs have problems selling out. Arizona is having a very difficult time selling their tickets. Apparently the games against the Cubbies in the NLDS were sold out because about 40% of the fans were Cubbie fans. The last number that I heard was that there were 8,000 tickets unsold for tonight. If this were the Braves, the media would be all over it. |

I was at both of the NLDS home games, and I think 40% Cubs fan is an overstatement. Honestly, I expected to see that many Cubs fans there, but I really didn't. I don't think there were more than 20% Cubs fans in attendance (at least from my perspective in the sections I sat in). Granted, that's still not saying much.
But the Rockies aren't much of a draw, which is part of the issue. I was at a COL/AZ game early in the season on a Monday or Tuesday night that only drew 18,000 or so... and it looked like there was actually significantly less than that in attendance.

He sure as hell better be making calls if we're paying him $30M.
I am so tired of his swing follow-through. Christ, man, just drop the bat and run.

That's what I thought it was...
Seriously, like that play doesn't happen every game and is never called. Subjective ass-hole.
