If this is too early, lock my stuff up.
I'll take Livan ( 10-11, 5.27 ) vs. Bergmann ( 0-1, 6.64 )

I'm thinking that our WHIP vs. DC is pretty sharp.

I think they said that if Young had a big game, Melvin might start him again tonight...so probably Q takes a seat.
This is my guess for the night cap...
Snyder
Jackson
Hudson
Counsell
Tracy
Gonzo
Young
Byrnes.
Of course....Melvin might be uber stupid and put clark in for Jackson again.
|
I hope Jackson isn't hurt, and it's just Melvin being stupid again. Pinch hitting Counsell for Jackson in the first game, and benching him in the second for Clark sure is stupid...but better a stupid melvin than a hurt jackson.

Check out the mud on Quentin's spikes from game 1. Looks like extremely sloppy playing conditions today in DC.
Thom mentioned when Young was thrown out stealing that his bad jump was due to all the mud and gunk around 1st base.

After the morning's we really needed to bounce back. This is not the lineup we were looking for. |

Young and Byrnes combine to give us a 1st inning lead. We know from game 1 that a 5-run lead in the 8th is not safe, so keep hitting guys. |

OK, drastic times require drastic measures...
How about we do whatever is necessary -- bake sales, car washes, collecting aluminum cans, standing on streetcorners with cardboard signs -- to raise the money to buy out Melvin's contract?
That gets Josh Byrnes off the hook for what is looking to be, so far, the worst move of his administration...
As McCray said earlier, I'm not usually given to bashing the manager -- but the lineup for the second game really makes me question keeping that perspective.
The season is over, Bob. We're not going to the playoffs. Bench the veterans, and use the time to develop the rookies -- that is, if you really want to win in 2007... Otherwise, just keep doing what you're doing -- 'cause it ain't gonna get any better with Gonzo, Clark, and Counsell getting the starts...

and how is it a throwing error on snyder? he threw to the 2bman, and the throw HIT the 2bman, who then stared as the ball rolled away. it hopped, but it got there. hudson could have gotten that one, IMO.

With:
C. Tracy 3B 0-1
T. Clark 1B 0-1
C. Counsell SS 0-1
C. Snyder C 0-1
L. Hernandez P 0-1
due up in our 4th Rachel thinks that it's time to get a couple more across because this game is too close.

Hey, c'mon guys, be fair: the field there is WET! A lot of rain there in the last few days... We'll be fortunate to get out of there without anybody getting hurt...
Hopefully, the field in Florida has had a chance to dry out after Ernesto's visit...
