Is it just me or do his throws look kinda crappy this year? It seems like his throws to home have always been on several hops. Is he just overthrowing and releasing a touch late? |

Maybe it just "seems" that way, because we've seen some rifle shots on the fly as well.

I was thinking to myself last night that his throws have been looking better than ever. |

Let's talk about Byrnes' arm. What was the deal on that throw the other night from SHALLOW CF, on which he got in horrible position, took too long to throw, almost threw it over our catcher's head and then did a complete somersault? And then he threw his glove.
Embarrassing.
I used to do that too, but it was slow-pitch softball and afterwards I was drinking beer at a bowling alley - our team's sponsor. |

I was thinking the same thing. With all the time he took he could have set himself better and made a better throw. He plays like he's getting a shot of caffeine every half inning. Relax son.

Hmm...which shoulder was the small tear in his labrum from the end of spring training this year?

We saw another lousy throw on Saturday, perhaps the worst I have ever seen him make.
The ball bounced just past first base, it might have even boucned in the dirt, not the grass....in any case if it was an off line 5 hopper.
Weak. |

Embarrassing throw... I had told my friend at the game with me to check out the coming close play at the plate.... only to be shocked at how pitiful it was.

I no longer think he's overthrowing - they're just not good. I've seen way too many inaccurate throws to the cutoff man this year, too. |

Young's arm sucks too. Always too high a trajectory, and it tails from his right to left badly. Seen at least 3 or 4 of those throws with the high arc and the big tail. |

I was wondering if someone one was going to notice that. All year season Chip Hale was on him about that.

Well, Young'll be a leftfielder anyway once Upton arrives.

So what happened to Q's arm?
I was stunned when I saw the throw go way offline -- not at all what we'd seen time and again last season. |

I might be missing an inside joke, but i think even considering the arm, Young is a better CFer than upton.. at least thats what i have seen from my small looks at upton in CF. Young just has unbelievable instincts at tracking the ball down. Upton might get there eventually, but as he gets bigger, he may slow...
Either way, young, upton, quentin would be a hell of a defensive OF imo..

Actually, Qudjy1, I think you are right. Upton is big and getting bigger, and he does not appear to have the instincts in center that Young has. I would imagine that Upton moves to left, and Young stays in center, weak arm or not.
